If you want a REALLY old movie that does amazing things with cinemetography and some crazy twists and whatnot, you want The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari. It's a 1919 german horror film that was just beautiful on the eyes. It kind of kickstarted the whole gothic film trend (I bet Burton has watched it a million times). Don't be put off just because it's an old silent black and white movie. It really is a triumph of film. I think you'll like it.
Catch-22 is a great adaptation of the book (my favourite book) with a narrative that shows complete disregard for the normal passage of time.
Deathrace 2000 is agreed upon by both Maxim magazine and myself to be the greatest B-movie ever made. Yes, better than Evil Dead 2. you'll laugh and love.
WestWorld is a great old movie best described as Jurassic park with Cowboys. Of course after you see it, you'll realize that Jurassic park is just Westworld with dinosaurs
Run Lola run is pretty much one big giant "cool thing". It's a german movie, but there isn't much dialogue so don't worry if your one of those annoying "don't like foreign films" people.
And just incase you haven't already watched it 5 million times like the rest of humanity, The Life of Brian and The Holly Grail are two of the greatest films ever made.
I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.
Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.
Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
