Forums - Gaming - HALO REACH vs GRAN TURISMO 5

halo reach wont sell as many copies as everyone thinks but either will gt5 they will most likely be even.

halo has died down considerably seeing how many more shooters have pushed the envelope much more than halo ever has, plus its not looking any different its still the same run gun.

gt5 wont sell the 10 million people think it will, there is a ton of great racing games out there, the market last gen wasnt so crowded with such high production value.

either way they will both sell really well im buying gt5 for sure , not to sure about halo reach though im really not a fan of the multiplayer its actually quite terrible and im not a huge fan of the single player either although it is better than the multiplayer .... im sorry but people that still play halo 3 dont really own any other online games and if they do i cant think of one reason why you would still play a design from 1999 unless you really like old games i guess

Gt5
imo Halo:R will be no Halo3 in sales

By a mile!  Also the console sales boost will be a hell of a lot more for GT5.  (Anyone that would buy a 360 for the Halo franchise already has.)

Halo Reach is a win-win (sales-critical reception). GT5 will sell bucketloads too, but where it will outdo Halo Reach is moving hardware. Also, GT5 will be more revolutionary for a racing game than Halo Reach for a FPS. But who's gonna make more profit in the end between developers? definitely Bungie and Microsoft. GT5 is much much bigger, expensive, and took almost 4 years to complete. Halo Reach will recoup R&D costs just with pre-orders, GT5 not so much (although GT5:Prologue helped a lot).

I don't actually think either game will have much of a noticeable impact on hardware.  If someone is such a diehard fan of Gran Turismo then they most likely already have a PS3 and have been playing GT5P for a few years now.

With such healthy, respectable libraries as both consoles have the primary reasons people buy a new console at this stage in the gen are cost and the accumulated library, not a single game that they've been waiting for.

Of course both will sell shitloads of copies, nobodies debtaing that...

Sales numbers in Others have dropped off lately. GT4 sold 3.5 million less than GT3 in Am. Japan dropped .6 to 1.26m. GT5 will need 7 or 8m in Oth. during tough times to beat Halo overall. NFS and Forza have underperformed and there are a lot more IPs in the genre these days. 12 or 14 million are not guaranteed for either GT or Halo. Reach will sell 4m wk 1 and 12.5m eventually imho. GT may be a slight disappointment to it's fans. If 2.8 and 11.5m LT is somehow bad.

We talking worlwide or just america ?
We all know GT5 is going to sell bazillions in Japan (that`s right, I said bazillions)
So worldwire I think it will be closer than more people think.
Then again it`ll probably release in Japan months before America gets it.

Definitely Halo: Reach. You can argue a lot about life time sales, but when it comes to first week sales, it's a Halo game. It'll sell incredibly.

you could say that, but the preorder sales in AMERICA shows different...plus with odst out, and a beta coming up, its hard to see how GT is even close to the preorders that halo has in America...i mean just imagine in others 0_o

....Uhhhhh maybe it's the fact that GT5 has been pushed back about 4x now and people have been preordering it since before Halo: Reach was even announced...idk maybe that's it. In terms of sales there should be no thread here, Halo Reach will have sold 10 million copies 3 months after it's release guaranteed. Lifetime sales idk how high it'll go but gran turismo will not compete here either. GT5 will not surpass 8 million copies lifetime sales. Halo reach will sell 5 million 1st week guaranteed, but could potentially do 7 million+.

In regards to the Meta who knows, I predict at least 90 for both, but from there it's anyones guess. Both franchises are held very highly so regardless of deserving a 95+ metacritic or not, i wouldnt be surprised if either or both accomplish this feat.

Where do you get off claiming this...proof please. And don't point to ODST as your 'proof'.
