Forums - Gaming - The generation is over, long live the generation

Hmm, Sony just tried bringing out a more expensive PSP with some cool features (the Go) and it flopped majorly. I don't know that they'll try a phone. Only one way to tell though. I have a feeling this E3 is going to be epic

What is the point in MSFT + Sony releasing a new console? Their technology is still more powerful than the Wii. and I doubt the Wii 2 is even going to catch them. They both have less than 40M in sales. Just keep them out, no point in making another one now.

That's exactly why I think we'll see a PSPhone! Why devs would start pushing PSP? It can't be only the Go, specially with that ridiculous price tag lol. I think there's more to come. Also some of the biggest games are still to be released (Resident Evil PSP and Final Fantasy Agito XIII for example).

Couldn't agree more! This E3 will be awesome, can't wait to see it. I'm very curious about Nintendo 3DS.

Actually, this act will be the long waited Motion Controls Wars. This and next's years will be the generation's climax, and will decide whoever wins the cookie.

Above: still the best game of the year.

Yay the death of gaming! Now we get motion control and 3D! WOOHOOO!

Yeah, just freakin' shoot me.

This generation is far from over, my friends.

You guys sound like a couple of oldsters.  Get with the times man.

If the Wii has taught us anything, you can still play old school sidescrolling platformers like NSMB Wii and Wario Land : Shake It! along with motion control heavy games.  The same will be true with 3D.  You'll have both 3D games and games that look like they do now.  Don't worry about it, the best looking graphics don't always = sales.

Nah, this generation is going to be longer - the recession alone should see to that. The appetite for a new wave of tech is going to be low for a while yet I believe.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Both of those will most likely take priority next gen... I'm really not in the mood for 3D TV's or swinging my controller round and round after a busy day at work.

The fight between DS and PSP may be well over but the fight between the HD consoles has just started.

Motion control is going to be the big thing for a little while I think.  Ironically, Nintendo is making games that are less heavy on the motion controls and it looks like Sony and Microsoft are stepping more into that direction.

About 3D, we'll have to take a watch and see approach.  It might or might not catch on.

HD is doing pretty well, I expect 3D to do the same when it's easily affordable. As for motion controls... it all depends on what Nintendo throws at us with their next console.
