Forums - General Discussion - Disposable razors are horrible things and I hate them.

This is some pretty informative stuff!

What brand do you use now? If you already said it, I apologize, my attention span is shot for some reason.

And, uh....where would be the best place to buy these things?

Seriously? I have no friggin' clue.

I went to a local shaving supply place (like a barber supply), and asked them for whatever they had. The straight razor was $7.99 and made in italy...Very basic shaver, but great quality, as the razor holder is made of stainless steel.

As for the blades, I use something like this, but I don't like splitting the blades...So I am going to get something else:

http://www.amazon.com/Merkur-Double-Edge-Razor-Blades/dp/B000JPMHWK/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1269194627&sr=8-24

That is kinda what I use. But I am switching to....

http://www.amazon.com/Derby-Professional-Single-Blades-straight/dp/B0014E94SU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1269194686&sr=8-1

Yes. Your reading that right. $2.85 for 100 blades. Even if you get a max of 4 shaves per blade, your looking at 400 shaves for under $3. That should last you years.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Okay that does sound pretty cool. I'll look into it, if only because shaving with a straight razor seems endlessly manly.

Bound to be a shaving supply place or two within an easy subway ride in Toronto....

You can always buy 'em from Amazon.

$18.99 for a razor + 300 blades. Should last you near a lifetime :-p

I'm in Canada, unfortunately, and amazon.ca doesn't carry things like sweet straight-edge razor blades

Khuutra: www.fendrihan.com sells double edge safety razors and ships from within Canada. Make sure you pick up a badger or boar hair shaving brush while you're at it though.

I have an electric razor and i like it because it never bites my face and it does a good job.

I don't see why people would use disposable razors.

I wouldn't like to take a big ol' piece of sharp metal and scrape down my cheek.

Shaving is the bane of my life. I'd swap it for periods any day, even heavy ones.

I use this:

I hate shaving, have to do it every 2-3 days now.
