Forums - Sony - Jack Tretton Takes Aim at Natal.

Oh Jack......People in glass houses really shouldnt throw stones.

Its even more ironic given that Sony's first rushed copy of Nintendos strategy, the six axis, never really took off in the way they hoped.

I guess if at first you dont succeed, eh Mr Tretton !

What if he's stuck in the house...and the only way to get out is to throw a stone...By all means, let him throw, let him throw...

Just waiting for that PS Vita to come out so I can play some full featured games on the go with that beautiful screen and control scheme...

Jack Tretton:

"If you can find a PS3 anywhere in N America thats been on the shelves for more than 15 minutes I'll give you 1200 bucks for it" - this was so wrong it was sad.

"If you look at the adoption rate of the DS over the first 17 months, not only does it trail the PSP but it also trails their other platforms ... They're potentially losing some of their core audience and they're not really expanding beyond that." - oh dear.

“We are in the first 25 per cent to 30 per cent of this generation. I would say we're sitting in the catbird seat. And if you like what you see right and if you thought last year was the year of the PlayStation, I hope that in 2015 somebody is going to be saying, ‘This is the Year of the PlayStation 3.’ - Jan 2010. - staggering arrogance or stupidity - I'm not sure.

You know he HAS to say stuff like that. How well would sony stock do if he came out and said.

"Well, you know what? We are getting our asses kicked."

Not well I imagine.

you mean he HAS to lie?

the 1st one was a lie.

the 2nd one was idiotic.

the 3rd one is wishful thinking off this planet.

Lets see you run a company worth as much money as all that he is in charge of.

I do run a company... and it made more profit that Sony did last year.

Sony made profits last year?

yes it did - around 200-300 million i think

You guys need to relax.

I borrowed it from MUGEN

Move will be better than Natal.

I can't believe people are actually expecting Microsoft to make a decent piece of new technology.

I mean seriously. Microsoft? Creating something new? That works like promised? HA!

The first cycle fooled me as a black wiimote. Even the distance between the hands is almost the same -_-

Shame Sony, shame.

oh cry me a river....you keep posting these type of posts as if SOny stole your car or something...I have yet to see a single positive post from you on the Sony section

ok here is a deal....I'll accept Sony was at least somewhat copying the control scheme as in one for the right hand one for the left hand thing but you have to admit that from what he have seen the Move is way way superior in tech with doing things the wii can't even imagine of doing....

Now don't start with the oh nonono they copied it all...they got into this later...wii was so uber awesome successful...so why did they follow suit if not for copying yada yada.....I mean these are multi million dollar corporates!!!! It's like asking Verizon mobile to NOT come up with their own touch screen phone to rival the iphone......What next? Wii get into HD (WHICH they definitely will and they have to someday soon imo) so they will be copying Sony and MS? Oh please...it's rather foolsih to even say that

For me, IF Move comes up with a solid line of games I like, I'll buy it and so far I'm very impressed with it...heck IF Natal shows me some games that wow me I'll buy myself an Xbox for certain...cuz for me what's important is not whining oh this guy started this, oh no this guy did the same thing only better etc etc what's important are the GAMES!

I agree. I bought a 360 over a year ago, because there was games I wanted to play, but now the PS3 has all my time.

Dragon Age: Origins, Final Fantasy XIII, God of War III and Uncharted 2 are the games that I'm playing most right now.

Even though DAO and FFXIII are multiplatform. I've got the PS3 versions.

The 360 hasb't released anything in the past year that I've wanted to buy that I couldn't get on the PS3.

I can see by your signature you're already enjoying Sony's copy of Microsofts achievements.

Tease.

Well me personally. I don't like the Achievement/Trophy systems.

There are very few games that I go out of my way to get. Dragon Age and God of War III are the only ones on PS3 that I'm really going after, but that because I love those games.

I also don't update my card very freqently.

I was sucked in at first though.

Ahh, sorry.

In any case the technology is usually fine, its the implementation which is often off for Microsoft technology. The software behind say Natal is pretty much excellent but the question as always is will they screw it up in implementing the interface.

Tease.

My signature is the answer to that guy. Im just posting so people can see how Sony doesn't imitate competitors.

Btw its a pretty lame dive coming from a company shamed into third place by last generation hardware and motion controls which his company first mocked and then copied.

QTF!

I would love to see Major Nelson come and say "If you want a motion controller go out and buy a $200 wii that came out 4 ago"

so you know Move is gonna cost 200$

No but a Playstation 3 is gonna cost $300 and the move will probably cost $100 without the bundle thats $400 just for an gimmick controller.

Even if the MOVE is bundled with the PS3 thats still $100 more expensive than the Wii, which is $200.

I would say Natal is a gimmick (which it is) but the 360 is $200 so even if Natal is $100 (its rumored to be $50) it would be the price of the PS3.

Leaving no reason to buy a PS3 over a Wii/360

“I think it is a big idea, if you really want to get involved with playing with a camera, I suggest you go out and buy a $99 PlayStation 2 and play some of the great technology that we invented 8 years ago.”

Wow, that's not much different from just saying...

“I think it is a big idea, if you really want to get involved with playing with motion controls, I suggest you go out and buy a $200 Wii and play some of the great technology that Nintendo invented over 3 years ago.”

except that nintendo didnt really invented anything

So Nintendo never invented the Wii remote? And the PS Move looking really similar to it is just coincidence?

How else are you supposed to design a Motion Control wand for a videogame console?
