That freaking ball and chain.
Best Zelda item ever.

I liked the new items and the boss fights. Also several of the puzzles were clever.
Pixel Art can be fun.
I love the epic scope, gorgeous lighting/fx, Midna (best sidekick yet), awesome subweapons (Double Hookshot, Ball & Chain!), random caves to explore, great dungeon designs, cool bosses, improved combat. improved horseback and MASSIVELY improved aiming controls. Probably the best game all around among the 3D Zeldae, even if it's not my personal favorite.
What I didn't care for were anything to do with the wolf form (especially after having just played Okami), the inconsistent texture work and geometry (really limited by being a GC game, especially given what Retroid 3 and Galaxy showed us less than a year later), and how superficial Hyrule Castle Town was. I wish the overworld wasn't so sectioned either, that it flowed more naturally, but that's been a problem since after Zelda 1 really. Button mashing versus wand waggling was a non-issue imo, so hopefully motion plus actually improves things next time around.
Midna and the dominion rod.
Plus, everything else.
I liked the fact that a secondary character besides Link/Zelda/Ganondorf got to be the major focus in the storyline for once and they put a lot more emphasis on the characters and world. However, they didn't keep as strong of an emphasis on the level design and expoloration as a result, which was a problem.
Then there's some of the new items, which ultimately were amazingly fun, like the double clawshot, the ball and chain and the top...spinning...thingy. But then you realize after using them in the actual levels you use them in...they're absolutely worthless outside of those levels (aside from the clawshot).
I also liked the concept of returning back to the 'Ocarina of Time' style. But I didn't think it was done really in the same tradition or style of Ocarina of Time. From the way Link fights (more like he's bashing people with a sword rather than using a 'sword') to the way the environment is built (more like endless rolling plains and monotonous dungeons full of empty space), the game wasn't 'like' Ocarina at all. Even the end boss, which was obviously trying to pay tribute to the epic past bosses of Zelda games before, felt more like a graphical showcase than a unique 'boss' fight.
So, in many ways, I played through the game finding things I liked, but then ultimately feeling very conflicted about them in the end.
This is the best game i've played. The environment is so huge and deep, with the time changing from day to night. The habitability to transfer the player to the game world. Playability is nice, game play changes are nice, minigames are interesting.
IMO, the only three things avoiding twilight princess being perfect are:
- graphical glitches (the water for instance)
- it is not HD
- not speaking
The items, I enjoyed it's story, and the epic boss battles.
My only(small) complaint is that the side quests were not as good as in OoT.
Still my favorite LoZ though.
Not much. It's currently slotted into my "meh" category. Hateful, unresponsive motion controls are the worst part. I'm only about 10 hours in, so I've probably got a lot of good stuff to see, but it's so hard to go back when I'm enjoying all of the great fames coming out right now. I think I'll get back to it eventually.
A more appropriate (and difficult) question would be "What didn't I like about Twilight Princess?"
