Forums - Sales Discussion - Million sellers by publisher

The list is a bit flawed in my opinion.

EA sports belongs to EA.

2K Sports, 2K Games and Rockstar belong to Take-Two

RedOctane belongs to Activision.

Shouldnt publishers like EA and EA Sports, and Activision and Red octance be counted together as they are really the same company

Yeah, in some cases they're separated by brand.  It's like splitting Nintendo and the Pokemon Company in Japan.

For separate brands, or companies who are really subsidiaries, and could be combined in the charts...

  • Electronic Arts should include EA Sports and MTV Games (not owned, but they're the distributor/publisher for Rock Band)
  • Activision should include Red octane (wholly owned)
  • Namco Bandai should include D3 Publisher (wholly owned)
  • Konami should include Hudson (majority owned, exclusive distributor)
  • 2K Play, Global Star, Rockstar Games, 2K Games, 2K Sports should all be listed a s Take 2 Interactive

yea, hopefully in the near future we'll be pushing out a new feature that will have publishing "groups" per say.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

That'd be awesome, it's one of my pet peeves with VGC's database.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the Square Enix owns Eidos, so they can probably be listed there (I did it in my revision).

Wow, it looks as if 3rd party developers probably love the 360! Eye opening to say the least!

Keep in mind... 360 had a head start.

So you would want to adjust for that.

Probably meausre Million sellers / months on the market.

As always, it depends on the 3rd party.  Sega, Namco Bandai, Disney, Lucasarts and Majesco have all done best on Wii while Square Enix, Bethesda and Konami have done best on PS3 going by this list (which admittedly isn't the whole picture).

Actually, if you divide the lists by numbers of 3rd parties who've performed best...

  1. 360: 7 publishers
  2. Wii: 5 publishers
  3. PS3: 3 publishers
  4. 360/Wii tied: 1 publisher
