Forums - Nintendo - The official Wii Vitality Sensor thread

I wonder if this will become a standart in the industry like the Wiimote and nunchuk

Probably not in the form the Wii Vitality Sensor seems to be coming, but if Nintendo can provide accurate emotional feedback from gamers and use that in game that would be huge! It would probably become a standard feature as in heat sensing game controlers or somesuch thing.

But really, I am pretty curious to see what will happen to the Vitality Sensor...

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Finally I get the chance to update the OP. Rumour has it that Red Steel 3 is in the works and will use this very finger pulse device.

the way iwata talks about it it makes it seem like the VS can sense your mental state(i.e. nervous focus etc) or maybe it can pickup on your emotions. that would be a neat way to further interact with games

Yeah , i can imagine a RPG making really good use of it , for example...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You find the supreme king of demons , and all your party make a circle , you think you corned him , when he says something like...

"In order to have the honor to fight with me , a sacrifice must happen ... you beloved must die...do you agree tiny human (Big bang theory reference here) ?"

Than the game offer you the option do select the character you like best , and you probably will pick the character you like less ...but you pick one to die and this is what happens.

"And the one has being choose" says the demon king.

The camera starts to focus on each one of you party members one at the time, while changing focus the Wii VS counts your heart beat and other stuff that we dont know to feel how nervous you are, and you probably will get more nervous when the character you like best get the focus , not the one you choose with the game knowing that , the demon kills your beloved one and says...

"We are in hell but even here your lies have consequences"

This is just one of my many concepts of use for the Wii VS , and just because you lied to the game , the battle will be twice as hard.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is your idea of use ?

GO PATS! 2012 THE YEAR OF NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS'S 4TH SUPER BOWL!

A patriot to the end. GO PATS!

Now playing> THE LAST STORY (Wii) Best RPG I EVER PLAYED. *-*

Nintendo could u please just take my money and give me back my 3DS?!

Vitality sensor could go the way of balance board, bundle wii relax with the sensor and sell it off for a low price.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

It's a Blue Ocean product, therefore you shouldn't try to shoehorn it on to horror games or whatever, it's going to come with software that was previously possible, just like Wii Fit. It'll be built around the device as much as the device will be built around the software. It'll be a system seller with more potential than both Natal and the PS Move.

Whether I like the software or not (I have trouble getting to sleep, and if the software is what I think it is then I'll get a lot of use out of it) it doesn't matter because it's hitting another BIG part of our lives..

Think about it, the Wii will cover all three of these next Holidays:

- Entertainment
- Fitness
- Stress

I think Nintendo will be hard pressed to find bigger marketable experiences. Software focusing on things like finance and relationships (other big areas of our lives) would be more difficult to work into an experience that could sell Wii consoles.

Wii Vitality (or whatever it ends up being called) is the next progression point of the line below:

Wii Sports -> Wii Fit -> Wii Vitality

For that reason alone, video gaming fans interested in the progression of the industry as a whole should be very interested in the Wii Vitality Sensor.

Exactly, this isn't to be shoehorned into existing games, it's for a new form of video entertainment.   Like Wii Fit put fun into fitness and Wii Music (failed) to put fun into making music, Wii Vitality will make relaxation and meditation (and likely other things) fun and accessible to people.

My guess it this would be bigger in Asia than the west but we'll see.   So far we know nothing at all.   It'll be interesting to see.

After all, how many people would have ever thought a glorified scale would be used in over a hundred games this generation?
