Car makers ASK to be in Gran Turismo, and have Polyphony Digital actually design some stuff for them.

Gran Turismo has been on TV a lot. There has even been the "Gran Turismo Awards".

GT is a way bigger brand name than Halo.

The top selling Mario Kart has sold more relatively speaking than GT3 than GT3 has to relative to Halo 3 (If not will be soon).

I think everyone already knows the answer is yes really. I don't see how anyone can deny Xbox 360 isn't PS3 equal in putting out quality games if not more in some aspects. And people who exclude the NA region is just their way of ignoring facts and the success of a console. Its the biggest market so not to count it is foolish. 360 software sales are pretty close to ps3's in "Others" if thats what you prefer to hear. So yes Very equal.

They are getting there, but globally, they are not there yet. Sony has distribution chains all around hte world for electronics, and while M$ has them for it's software, hardware is a different beast, and comparatively, Xbox original just lacked that. In NA, I think it'safe to say that M$ has surpassed Sony. On the development side, Sony still leads by a country mile, and I'm not really seeing M$ getting their...it's certianly not from a lack of potential AAA IP, since M$ has a buttload of them, but from a lack of development teams. It makes little sense to me how the biggest software company can't get 2-3 development shops up and running. Imho, Hire 150 developers, split them into 3 teams under MGS, and call them whatever funky names you want, and get them working on M$ owned IP...oh...say like BRUTE FORCE or FREELANCER!

this. it's being driven right now by sony's failures and the xbox's strengths in english speaking areas (pretty much NA). i'd say it's pretty close but i'm probably biased, since i live in NA.
i've had at least one console in my home every gen since the nes and i can tell you one thing. my italian grandmother who doesn't speak a word of english, has a 2nd grade education and doesn't know how to turn on a computer has mistakenly called video games in general "oou neentendo" or  "playstay-sho" but never has she or will she be calling anything an "icks boox" anytime soon.

Not PS3 or 360 software bud, but MS and Sony.  I'll give you a list, try matching it with MS developed/owned/published all 3 things.  All are Sony owned developed published, this gen only to make things fair.
