Congratulations Bad Company 2! First you had a 90 on Metacritic, and now you've actually translated quality->quantity!

This isn't even including the huge Steam sales and preorders for the PC version of the Battlefield game (with dedicated servers). The game also only released March 2nd for NA and 5th for EU, so it still has more to go!

Personally, I was really afraid that the game was going to flop. It seemed like people were content to play mainstream "AAA" shooters, or that the game will be smothered by the release of other AAA games like Heavy Rain, God of War III, or Final Fantasy XIII.

I'm really suprised at how much attention the game has gotten near release. You gotta hand it to DICE who didn't spend millions marketing with fancy trailers, but spent money to pay for dedicated servers, gave free DLC, used gameplay footage to market, and actually made a balanced and extremely fun multiplayer game instead of advertising it as so.

So gratz DICE! Good job EA for giving creative freedom and treating your employees well (as opposed to certain other companies who like to fire employees to avoid paying them).

So far we have 63 owners of this game in VGChartz, and I'm having lots of fun playing with my fellow charters. I hope more of you guys will join my squad soon!

(I actually expected some more sales...)
Watching the legs will be interesting, but I don't think it's going to clear my prediciton.

Yeah the quality of this game is amazing.

I expected A LOT more. The marketing push was absolutely huge.

The X360 version of MW2 will sell 13-14 million lifetime. A first week ww number of 800K for BC2 on X360 translates to only ~3 mill lifetime sales.

I expected a LOT less. MW2 has the backing of casuals and had huge marketing and released not only in the holidays, but also managed to scare off every single release into BC2's release date.

Well, good for you lol.

Still, BC2 is a huge game. 3 mill X360, 2 mill PS3 and at least 2 mill on PC means +7 million lifetime.

I wonder if there'll be an expansion on disc btw? Or just DLC.

While DICE didn't gimp the game for the PC, they probably won't advance it to the point that it's a totally different game than the consoles. There will be no DLCs for the game though, only free updates for PC owners, and free DLC for console owners (provided they bought the game new).

At least that means they'll be free to work on a potential sequel for a certain PC game...

Damn, speaking of 1943 there HAS to be an 1943 DLC for Bad Company 2. After all that work with the tanks, Japanese models, map, weapon skins, etc, they just HAVE to do a 43 DLC.

They better start fixing some of the issues the pc version has soon.
