Forums - Sony - Sony Says PlayStation Move Precise Enough To Play StarCraft

Wow... Another thread derailed by Nintendo fans. Amazing. Just what we need. If this was a thread about Nintendo and Sony fans were all over it there would have been several bans.

I READ this article over and over again just to make sure why this thread is full of Wii fans derailing it including a mod. This is getting out of control, while I understand your feelings are hurt because Sony took Nintendo's idea, but it does not excuse the derailment, trolling and flaming that has been going on lately. This is very sad, and killing a lot of good threads.

My God for those who read it, the Move is seriously amazing if it can do what I read, guessing your age, weight and know if you are wearing glasses. Pretty cool stuff.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts.

For as much crying as 'Boohoo Sony copied Nintendo'.

Sony has been a force in the electronics industry since it started.  Back when Nintendo was peddling their card collections.    Every single company in this industry has copied, borrowed, improved upon existing technology in order to make something better or more worthwhile.   Every single one.

It was Sony's major collaboration that brought the original Compact Disc and pretty much every other Disc based format since..."Oh that's not innovation...That's just natural progression"  I've heard from Nintendo fans.   Well the same could be said about Motion controls, virtual reality gaming via motion controls etc.   It's just a nice deflection technique by a bunch of irrational butt hurt Nintendo fans.

I think the reality here,  is Nintendo fans and Nintendo themselves know that what advantage they had is now erased.  Sony will take the technology they have here and make it better than Nintendo possibly could have.

I've said it many times before,  I'm happy Nintendo has dominated this generation.  It will mean they will continue to persist and survive.  But the truth is, next generation they can go right back to where they were in the backseat.  They don't serve the public nearly as well as a market holder.

Amazing, the things the PS3 can do when it imitates the Wii.

Amazing, the things the Wii can wo when it imitates the PS2

The only thing I see that Wii imitated PS2 at, was conquering the market leadership for this generation.

Aside from that I don't see your point :

i agree with Bamboleo....PS2 doesnt have a huge selection (about 90%) of dissapointing/crap games.

see. i can do that too :)

but to not follow and be immature i have to say,

they're are just to many nintendo fanboys on this site let alone this thread, grow up people! who cares who stole what from who, every company does it and honestly why should i care! i want to enjoy the consoles and games, i can care less about which system is doing the best right now. from the looks of it, they are all doing well so its a huge plus for us all.

but on topic, i think the technical side of the "Playstation Move" (same as the "Natal") is very interesting but like all motion controls its seems like a gimmic. Hopefully they can do something with motion controls to acually make it good.

i know i wouldnt play starcraft with any pointer other than my mouse, but either way, im sure the wii can do it too

too bad it would suck because of no keyboard, and the pointer would work just as well if not better on the wii. Unless you are using mouse+keyboard you would be at a huge disadvantage.

u can :p on the ps3,

You can on the Wii too... amazing how things that have USB support can use USB keyboards as well as other inputs since its all about software that uses it lol

well on the ps3 it's on the SKU, UT3 implemented it with easy, 360 have also usb ports but there is not support in them to use on developers, actually it's locked to microsoft licensed accesories only, third party it's banned from using it without microsoft approval.

not sure about nintendo, never found anything related nintendo, alsonever heard of them having engines for third parties, other  than the wiimote SKU. if any

from what i read keyboards are supported, but mouse isn't,

Uh... do you know what the hell you're saying? Like really?  You can use any old USB Keyboard on any of the systems... anyone can take advantage of that if they program it into the game.

Anyway... for third parties and use of USB Keyboard

This is all...

KEYBOARD, not mouse, keyboard was implemented in 3.1

Yeah, into firmware, the program the Wii runs off of, you could still use it in a game if you wanted to prior to that, what I'm trying to say is software controls input not the system itself, so if you wanted to program in the input device you can use it.  Hell if you can make USB drums, mics, etc work on a console how is making a USB mouse + keyboard any different, its not you just have to program for it, anyway this really wasn't even the original topic lol I was just trying to inform you everything and anything with a USB port can make use of USB inputs as long as they program it lol

This is retarded, I can play Starcraft with my stylus on my tablet, but I wouldn't want to...unless I didn't want to break 20 APM.

u can  do anything if you program it, seriously u can make n900 work a DS3 controller. >_> that's not the point.

my point would be  easier on ps3 because it's already implemented into the SKU :p

How?  You still have to program it?  It's not magically there in each and every game or more FPS games other than Unreal 3 would use it.  It's just like you have to program for analog shoulder buttons, have to program for motion controls, you have to do all this for each and every game unless you have you have the programming done from a previous title...

The fact is. The Wii wasn't mentioned in the article at all. So why are you even talking about it? Why did you even bring it up?

Cause I didn't? ... Carl if you got a problem don't do it on the forums, but as related to this John commented on the keyboard and mouse thing, Xoj replied, I tried to inform you can do it on any console since they all support USB inputs, and its just went from there, I didn't bring up the topic, nor have I derailed anything, John was making the point that mouse and keyboard would still be superior way to control Starcraft, which is a point, just like the debate about dual analog vs mouse and KB for FPS games, and the discussion went from there.

Again Carl, you're staff, act like it, if you got issues talk to the person, don't try to start shit on the forums.  You've been riled up and trying to point fingers at everyone for a while, that's not being very mature, and its not how we run things around here, the forums are free for discussion, but staff should not be trying to bait memebers, nor should they publically criticize moderation on the site.  Calm down.

Your first words in the thread were "You can on the Wii too". If that isn't bringing the Wii up, i don't know what is. Is it so bad to want a thread about the Sony Move without the Wii being brought up for once?

I've been riled up and pointing fingers since a bunch of Nintendo fans started going into a whole bunch of Sony threads, bringing up the Wii and starting crap. As i said before, including Mods and even an Admin. I'm not the only person to see this happening, and trust me i'm not the only one to be pissed off with it.

As for the red, i agree and i'm in the wrong on that one, but when the moderation on the site joins in... What do you expect?
