Forums - Nintendo - (Rumor from GDC) DS specs- Bigger screens and Gamecube-like structure

hmm man, I hope not, I'm very interested in DSi XL but won't buy it knowing a new handheld is coming. And I want Nintendo to focus on the Wii at E3, particularly games with M+, not a new console.

10 years later and the performance of a Gamecube? That shows how far behind the times handhelds are. However performance should be a little better due to more efficient software and possibly a smaller screen.

Handhelds aren't about graphics, if you want powerful graphics you should play a console or a PC. You need to realize that handhelds won't (and does not need to) follow the consoles with the same power. Handhelds should have games like Patapon, Tetris DS, Loco Roco, Pokémon, Phoenix Wright, Half Minute Hero etc (games that you can easily pick up and play) and not something extremely realistic from hell that will make you pee your pants while you're on the bus.

and not something that will make you pee your pants while you're on the bu

Its cool. The DS has my utmost respect. I haven't enjoyed many games significantly more because of improved graphical effects. Nintendo are smart, they create games first and foremost which makes them a hell of a lot smarter than most other companies out there who lack the creativity and drive to make games shine through gameplay and experience alone.

Awesome.

Well I'd hope it would use a high-density cart instead of a disc

But yeah

If it were like this, I would probably go insane, just for a portable Wind Waker

Get back you dastardly graphics whore fiend!

Note: I before E except after C.

Nintendo creates their systems for their games, not other way around.
So, you don't have to always have the latest tech to achieve that.

I hope they keep the dual screens next time, though.

Or come up with another, similarly cool idea.

I love all the wacky stuff they do with their hardware!
