Square Enix announced today that worldwide shipments of Final Fantasy XIII have topped the 5 million mark.

The RPG first saw domestic PlayStation 3 release on December 17. That release was followed by European and North American releases for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on the 9th.

Those international releases were apparently successful. Square Enix also said today that first shipments for the game in North America and Europe topped 3 million.

Total worldwide shipments for the Final Fantasy series as a whole have now topped the 96 million mark, Square Enix also announced today.

2m PS3 and 1m 360 seems more likely...

And the PS3 version is STILL sold out in some locations?

i order asia version so would it got the code??

i went to my ebgames today they had like 20 FFXIII for X360 and maybe 4 or 5 were sold (due to the way it looked)but the had like 50 FFXIII PS3 and they were going by the second.(it was almost getting half empty)

here is the interesting part:

they said the PS3 version is just for pre-orders.They don't have enough for regular customers but they could give me X360 version.

Quite nice. This should sell quite well.

If that's the case, they overestimated the 360 version.  It's looking like it'll have a 250k opening in North America, and far less in Europe.  Considering FFXII sold approximately 30% of its Western sales its very first week, that implies the 360 version won't do much more than a million lifetime (I'd say 1.3 million, maybe less), let alone within the first few weeks.
