I never had a problem with moving around in Heavy Rain. Learn to play games better?
So what little things did Ghostbusters get wrong? I think its fair to ask this since you've made the topic about the little mistakes.
Well, I agree on the movement in Heavy Rain, getting the game tomorrow 2nd hand (tons of used copies are flooding the market) it felt like an original RE game on analogue sticks.
Haven't played Deady Premonitions.
Agree with you on God of War, the game felt like God of War 2 with a coat of paint. Good rental but little staying power for me.
As for Oblivion I never played Morrowind so I cannot say but I did find Fallout 3's shooting to be an interesting diversion when the camera angle didn't get stuck on a wall during one of the over-used replays.
Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

The development team is talented, but they dont get a chance to sit down and come up with new ideas and experimental mechanics. R&C has the same unfortunate problem...it's franchise abuse.
But thankfully, some studios out there will come up with genre improvements and fresh ideas. This is why Bayonetta will pwn GOW3 in every convievable way except overall sales. |
and review scores, and graphics, sound design, story. I mean Bayonetta has some things over GoW3 don't get me wrong, gameplay is probably a cut above and the value but let's not act like GoW3 doesn't have its upsides as well.
...
Aww...TOR, why cant you let me be sensationalist. GoW will be prettier, and the story will be better based on the fact that it will be coherent. I'm also afraid the reviews will be better, but that would be sad. :-p

honestly bayonetta is such an unlikable character that makes the whole game unapealing to me.

that may be true, but if they made a SNES replica with carts, it would be way more expensive in the stores (if they even bothered to carry it) Even with CDs the retailers would want their own cut, so it would still be more expensive.

For those who want to know why there isn't Local multyplayer in games, is pretty simple: is a lot easier to not do it, it requires a lot of coding, and it would need to split the screen of the developers baby, making the game "less beatifull". In other words, developers are lazy.

Above: still the best game of the year.
GoW 3 new combat mechanics -
On the fly switch weapons - The cestus imo is the best secondary weapon in the GoW series so far. This is a big improvement imo.
Ride-able creatures. Cyclops, Cerberus...
Items that don't consume magic. (Fire Bow, Helios Head, Hermes Shoes)
Sexy new combos - Grapple + Battering ram (theres probably more)
That may not be much, but who cares anyway ! There are battle on moving titans and the sense of scale is unsurpassed.
Oh and it is foolish to to think Bayonetta is even in the same league as GoW. GoW is so much better that its funny...
The only area Bayonetta can "pwn" GoW is the combat, and that too is not by much while GoW is so much better in terms of story, graphics, sense of scale, soundtrack, and by the looks of it, boss fights.

You yourself say that it's an perfect example, but I don't know where I misread you. Your main theme was clearly of games deviating from the traditional game mechanics, etc. |
I was actually praising God of War (even though I don't like the games).
-edit-
Note that I'm not pointing out that every game has problems, I'm saying that things like character movement in a 3D world, something that was solved well more than 5 years ago, got screwed up so badly in a new game.
I'm not against developers trying new things, but come on, you have to know when something is that bad. In Heavy Rain's case, I tried the whole game to figure out why they went with that control scheme and I could never figure it out.
