update your flash plug-in, and get a browser that can better handle it. IE doesn't.

Opera handles flash just fine, and I keep it up to date. It is a bad idea to try to solve a problem when you have no clue whats causing it.

try disabling sigs then?

site loads fast for me. So trying to figure out your issue takes a bit. Its called Troubleshooting.

Last time i checked i can do what ever i want on my pc within US laws and regulations and until a law is passed about ads i will continue to do what i wish with my pc.  Your only option as a content provider is to A. deal with it and accept the profits you are currently raking in and ignore people like me, Or B. try to do something about it but risk losing all the people like me.  I cant believe the attitude you seem to have believing your entitled to force feed me ads without retaliation of any kind simply because your site regurgitates infromation from around the net.

Why should ioi care about losing people like you? You use up his bandwidth, which costs money, read his content, which costs money and block his ads, which generates his income. People like you are a parasite to sites like this, he should be happy to lose people like you. I would be.

Actually, just visiting the site indirectly generates revenue, Adblock or not. And please discuss the content of the arguments rather than the persons arguing.

There are ways you guys who dont want to turn off your ad-blockers can help prevent us from enforcing anti-ad-blocker policies.

It is quite easy actually. Support us. Use Digg, Red Dot, N4G, Stumble on our articles, reviews, and editorials. Get our content known. Buy gamers t-shirts. We aren't saying buy more than one, more the better but still, one per person here would greatly help. Buy games, music, movies, etc through our amazon store links featured in the game release date section of this site.

Also for those who do not want to buy anything from our sponsor links or spread word of this site to the masses. Disable your ad-blocker. I have the Ad-Blocker-Plus add-on for firefox installed. There is an, option to disable it for this site. Do it.

So pretty much, support us, or lose access to this site till you disable your ad-blocker on this site.

I'm glad there's some people out there NOT on a high horse.  I digg articles and I also recommend this website to people.  I don't use amazon for games though, since Canada blows for it, but I do my best to get people checking out the numbers.  And I read articles that mean something to me.

And you have the nerve to call me an arrogant tool?  *clap*

He made a perfectly good point - why should VGC care about people who cost the site money and give nothing back? How is that arrogant?

He posts in the forums, that gets page views, how doesn't that help the site?  How is devaluing people who want to improve their browsing experience NOT arrogant?

Sigs are disabled. Swing and a miss. You re trouble shooting a problem you were never told. First step, ask what the problem is. The correct solution is getting a better internet connection, which is not possible at the moment.

You know what I always wondered?
Why doesn't VGChartz just have a donate button; to assist in operations of the website?

Now, it may seem like things may get corrupt if too much money is sent, but there could probably be a monthly cap that clearly defines what the site deems necessary in order to run. I figure if people like a website, they may want to contribute a few bucks to it. Hundreds of VGC users have jobs and money, and probably wouldn't even notice throwing like $5 into the site every once in a while.

The only problem is that the site is very slow enough already. In fact it is the slowest site I visit, in any part of the internet. So in order to reduce the slog, people may ad-block to lighten the load it taxes on their computers (VGChartz makes the computer work much harder; you can hear the fans going).

I used to just keep it on everywhere but I don't anymore. I only turn it on with sites that have genuine NSFW material. Also I have no idea what everyone is talking about with the ferocious ads. I live in the U.S and the ads are actually a LOT better than most sites I visit. I haven't had a problem with the ads here ever.

Because it is using up resources paid for by ioi, without giving anything back. Page views only matter if the advertisments actually load. Read the damn article.

Page views without ad views are a liability to the site, how hard is that to understand?

Never argue with idiots

If a percentage block ads, and the other percentage doesn't, then views itself would make revenue.

As for ioi's last post.  If there are less people posting, that doesn't mean more people will view threads.  It COULD, but it also COULD mean less overall views.  With a larger userbase there are more "interesting" people.  This thread alone, mostly filled with posts from evil swine such as myself who block ads, already has 2700 views.   How many views would it have if there wasn't such controversy?
