If Mario Kart doesn't involve skill then there are no game out what so ever that require any skill at all.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

mario kart doesnt require luck, its a skillful game, i usually come first on pure luck lol.. i currently got 7245 on mario kart wii at the moment lol

According to this thread, I need to train hard to win the lottery... :P

lol good one, but seriously though, i disagree, MK doesnt really involve too much skill....and there is nothing wrong with that

And how many times have you actually played the game?

a good number of times, i used to be a huge fan of the 64 version, and ive played the wii version quite a bit, i love it, but i wish it was pushed farther, but either way its a great game, but what is the problem with it not relying on skill? why does it have to rely on skill anyways?...its a good game none the less and its easily accessible to anyone that likes fun racing games

Have you read a single thing that I wrote?  The game relies heavily on skill.

Is it accessible?  Yes, but in order to excel at the game it takes hours upon hours of practice.  It is easy to play but it takes a borerline maniac to master.  This is true with most good Nintendo games.

i have read what you posted, but you just cannot prove the game takes skill just like i cant prove that it doesnt take skill...and you didnt answer my question...so i will ask again...what is the problem with the game not relying on skill?

It could easily be proven that the game involves skill.  If you played any of the people that I mentioned, you would lose unless you have logged at least 100 hours in the game.   I didn't answer your question since I don't have to answer it.  The game does rely on skill.  If it didn't, it would be a completely different game like Mario Party, Rock Paper Scissors, or the latest Prince of Persia game.

i dont see why its so important for the game to require skill, seriously, you act like the game is bad because it requires luck

I'll ask another question, does anyone with a high VR (>9000) rating think this game is based on luck?

Honestly, all I'm sensing at the moment is sour grapes from people who probably thought they were good at the previous Mario Karts because they could beat a couple of their friends, only to have their illusions shattered online when they actually had to play against people with skills.

I'm the best, I just don't have the patience to get 3 stars or 999.

Notice that most of the people that are responding to this thread are people that are really good at the game? I wonder why that is.

I am an average Mario Kart Wii player. It is definitely a skill based game. Otherwise, I am one of the unluckiest persons in the planet when playing online despite the fact I am very lucky when playing offline with my personal friends.

Exactly.

Oh, and surely if it was all based on luck they would have beaten those skilled players at least half the time?

But they didn't, and they don't. Because they're not very good and are looking for an excuse.

VGChartz

people who say the game is based on luck should probably be added to my list

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I hooked up my SNES some weeks ago and played Super Mario Kart.
And it's funny how much more challenging that game is.
If you are racing in the back of the field, you really don't get back in front as easily as in later Mario Karts.

The tracks are more challenging too.

I haven't played MK Wii yet.
