I'll let you know when Mass Effect actually BECOMES a trilogy.

I agree, I don't know why we always need to do comparisons for games that aren't released

Which is why I said "to be" instead of "is"......

Well for all I know, ME 3 is going to be rubbish

That it may be but that is just pure speculation at this point....just like this thread is.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

I'd have to put the Metroid Prime Trilogy as the top, ME will be the greatest of this generation though. GoW not counted as it spans two generations.

GOW counts as well.....as long as the developers stated that the games would be a trilogy then it counts here.....no matter the gen leaps between iterations.

Nope, because ME1 is very overrated. Its a 7.5 game, pretty darn good, but loaded with flaws from borked combat to weak side missions to stilted characters, etc. etc. and had a fairly generic SF plot.

ME2 is very good, though, although the generic plot is still in place, so I suspect it'll be up there if they maintain the quality control for number 3 in terms of the basic quality of the games.

Your entitled to your own opinion no doubt, And Mass Effect is a great game but .... the Metal Gear Solid series tops the competition in every way ...

but thats just my opinion, but none the Less Mass Effect is still a great Game

Egh... if only MGS was a trilogy...!

Best trilogy this gen, though.

This.

But seriously, if Mass Effect 3 is on the same level as ME2 at least then yeah J Man you could make that argument and I'd back you up.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Pretty much this, Mass Effect had to many flaws to be an excellent game, so it ruins the trilogy for me. Same goes with Assasins Creed, first one was decent, the second one was fantastic. I'd vote for God of War though, every game so far has blown me away and I have no doubt the third would be the same.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Yah, AC is the perfect example as well.  AC2 was great, while AC was merely good and you could see the promise.  ME1 and 2 are like that, too.  Actually Uncharted is similar, except 1 was better in relation to 2 than ME1 to 2 or AC to AC2.

So actually, assuming the GoW3 and Uncharted 3 (when it appears) are very, very good then they are probably the two premier narrative/action driven trilogies that I've played.

There's a lot of highly rated RPG franchises I note (not a genre I overly play) so no doubt there could be plenty of great RPG trilogies already in place.
