Nope, because ME1 is very overrated. Its a 7.5 game, pretty darn good, but loaded with flaws from borked combat to weak side missions to stilted characters, etc. etc. and had a fairly generic SF plot.

ME2 is very good, though, although the generic plot is still in place, so I suspect it'll be up there if they maintain the quality control for number 3 in terms of the basic quality of the games.

Pretty much this, Mass Effect had to many flaws to be an excellent game, so it ruins the trilogy for me. Same goes with Assasins Creed, first one was decent, the second one was fantastic. I'd vote for God of War though, every game so far has blown me away and I have no doubt the third would be the same.

Yah, AC is the perfect example as well.  AC2 was great, while AC was merely good and you could see the promise.  ME1 and 2 are like that, too.  Actually Uncharted is similar, except 1 was better in relation to 2 than ME1 to 2 or AC to AC2.

So actually, assuming the GoW3 and Uncharted 3 (when it appears) are very, very good then they are probably the two premier narrative/action driven trilogies that I've played.

There's a lot of highly rated RPG franchises I note (not a genre I overly play) so no doubt there could be plenty of great RPG trilogies already in place.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
