I don't get this 1.5 million for PC.

Bioshock 1:

  • XBox 360: 2.45 according to VGC. Shipped estimated about 2.8 million (Think of the Oblivion / Bioshock bundle!)
  • PS3: 0.49 according to VGC Shipped estimated about 0.6 million.

They said more than 4 million so maybe 0.7 for PC?!

Bioshock 2:

  • Xbox 360: 0.84 million according to VGC. Shipped estimated 1.5 million
  • PS3: 0. 4 million. Shipped estimated 0.8 million

So 0.7 million for PC

Would you like to explain how you get to the 1.5 million for PC?

I don't think the Oblivion/Bioshock bundle is that popular. (I own the PC version btw )

There aren't 350k units for the 360 version on the shelves. Bioshock sells about 3-4k on the 360 per week (a bit more at the moment due to the Bioshock 2 release)

Would take about 1 1/2 years to sell all those copies. Assuming there won't be a decline in sales...

So about 1-1.1m shipped for the PC and the rest are digital downloads.

AFAIK Take-Two also didn't announce when Bioshock broke the 3m mark, so the shipping number could be anywhere from 4m to let's say 4.3m

Hah! Anyone see how the PC version of Bioshock sold around 1 million on retail!? And that's not even counting the digital sales, which are probably even higher than that!

And GTA4 PC sold also 1 million, probably not even counting the digital sales.

PC4EVA!

Why would they not include online sales in that? Its not like anyone can tell the proportion of sales per each platform anyway.

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

Good for Bioshock series. Deserves every sale.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I can go to the next Media Markt and buy 10 bioshocks right now. It is impossible to meet the right demand. If you do not have shortages, you overshipped.

And all this calculating is pointless without any data about digital sales. I am pretty sure that Take Two included them btw. It is a financial report at the end of the day. Do you think they don't tell their shareholder they sold 500k on digital distribution? They would be stupid to do so. They try to look as successful as possible, they are not hiding any sales.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Well I for one trust that Nvidia guy. Sounds like a credible source to me.

Our numbers could also be horrible wrong, but hey I'm just working with the sources I can get.

Feel free to disagree.

How old are you again ?

Anyway the PC version probably sold around 1.25-1.5m units. Not bad, but not that good either. The first game underperformed on every platform.

The PC version easily sold more than that. In June 2008, an Nvidia exec said that Bioshock sold 1 million, at the time. It's been almost 2 years since then, and Bioshock was HUGE on digital sales, especially with the insane $5 sales everywhere and many times.

Why did you source me to something that doesn't even back up what you were saying? I see no reports it sold more than 1.5 million .... anywhere. So yeah baseless.

I think the point is that common sense would say it has sold more then 1.5 million. At least that is how i see it. It is nearly two years since it had sold 1 million.. And since then it has been on the steam best-sellers list multiple times during sales (75% off) around christmas 08 & 09. And of course if you count the sales of bioshock 1 as a pre-order bonus for bioshock 2 then the sales would be even higher.
