Forums - Sales Discussion - Toys 'R ' Us Sunday Wii MADNESS

Yes guys, it's great that TRU is selling a lot of Wii software and hardware. But the real question is:

Is Nintendo increasing hardware supply to other stores as much as to TRU? Or are they reducing other stores' supply to help TRU with their promotions on Wii software. I'm hoping for the former.

that's crazy : 30 000 to 60 000 wiis just at TRU? just for one day? even it is a special offer, they only represent a few % of the market... but i'll let the numbers specialists of this site do their job and tell me exactly what they think (besides john lucas announcing a million sales for this week for the wii of course)

Or maybe TRU has been receiving the same supply as everyone else and has been doing an internal stockpile. Perhaps other major retailers are holding back some supply to spur sales at their time of choosing.

That might be the case, as some Wii's seemed to have the new protective sleeves in the box, and many did not.

BAM! There it is!

When did the new boxes containing protective sleeves start appearing in the market? That points to either Nintendo or TRU stockpiling indeed.

Maybe Bod can enlighten us.

I forgot to mention that the area I live in is Parkersburg West Virginia. Never heard of it, thought so. Extremely rual area with a population of around and 100,000 that's if you include Marietta Ohio which is accross the river.

They were sold out of:
Mario Galaxy
Mario Party 8
My Sims
RE:UC ( I bought the last copy)
Manhunt 2 (not sure if they sell this but it wasn't there)
and Super Paper Mario
(by the time I left the store the second time they were also sold out of GH3)

This is insane, especially for a rual are like mine.

If they sold Manhunt you might have to ask them about it  Something about keeping certain games behind the counter unless you ask or something.

Madness?

THIS IS TOYS'R'US!

...sorry, couldn't resist.

Website is out of stock of a lot things. Lego Star Wars, Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Guitar Hero III,
DDR Hottest Party, Mario and Sonic, Zack and Wiki.

Most of the big name first party titles are in stock, but I already own all of them. Pretty much anything I want to buy and don't already own is out of effing stock. =P

They still got Battalion Wars II, and I guess I can "pre-order" Umbrella Chronichles and Trauma Center New Blood.

First of all, TRU does not sell Manhunt 2. No TRU (B&M or online) will carry Manhunt 2.

Also, if you are thinking about the online deal, do it now. They are selling out of games quickly. Earlier today, they had games in stock that are now gone. I bought RE:UC , Trauma Center: NB, and Fire Emblem earlier today.

Farrk...

I hope they bring a similar deal the Australia at some point.

At this rate, Nintendo would *just* need the US for the Wii - forget the rest of the world.

I really have to question how NPD is planning on accounting for this. A huge promotion during one of the busiest shopping times of the year is not something you can exactly predict easily.

With a thorough history of data it can be done and done accurately, but the scenario we have here is a console selling at an unprecedented rate, with an unprecedented promotion during a normally unpredictable time of year.

I think they stand a very good chance of undertracking the Wii this week, particularly Wii software.
