Nice read.

PS3 should easily pass the NES.

I think it'll end up something like:

1. PS2 - ~150 million

2. Wii - ~110 million

3. PS1 - 102 million

4. PS3 - ~85 million

5. NES - 62 million

Considering the two others in the divisions, it is highly dubious that ps3 is not making profit.

Sony has taught us if you're willing to waste billions, you can be a failure with the respect of your fans.

Sega gave up and they only lost millions. Nobody respects them now.

Right now it's about impossible to tell, but the other areas that ps3 is combined with are not exactly money-makers. You have Sony ericsson, which has been losing a lot of money consistently, vaio, whose sales are dwindling but making a tidy profit, walkman, which is probably the best of all of them.

However, last quarter they made a surprising amount of profit which has been discussed as being spurred by the ps3 sales. Remember that they sold a couple million more ps3s than they expected and profits went up unexpectedly as well. That says to me that the two are linked. Profit and ps3. There were no boosts to the other parts of the division either.

However, keep in mind that PS3's division no longer includes "shipping charges", so you have to add that, but if you do that, you might as well include BR royalties, seeing as how they are both ripple effects in other divisions.

 Oh I see I meant you were asking about the division the PS3 is in. Because as far as I know there are no exact numbers for PS3 out yet. The divsion was posting an operating profit recently.

 

How much loss or win the PS3 made is unclear because they didnt published the numbers.
