There is no such thing as the "perfect game". Times change. So do ideas.
Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Spoilers from Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy III/VI, Final Fantasy VII
The Opera Scene- Final Fantasy III/VI this was one of the most memorable sections from any game I have ever played straight awesome the only thing that could make it better is if it occured at the same time as the world ending, which you caused.
The death of Aerith/ Main Character very few moments have impacted me as profoundly as her death, which is one of the reasons why FFVII still resonates as one of the best games ever.
Main Character Swap - Chrono Cross You becoming the bad guy is one of the greatest twists in gaming, especially when the villian is so cool.
Let me know what you think and how you would implement these together
The perfect game has to be an RTS becasue RTS is the best genre.
It should have perfect balance so that no unit feels useless and your choice of race doesn't matter.
It should have an interresting story.
It should have lots of gameplay depth and be very technical so that skill will really really matter, and noone can play the game 100% perfectly.
It should be build for exciting competitive play.
I LOVE ICELAND!

Get Capcom Production Studio 4 (if it still existed) and Nintendo R&D1 (if that still existed too) to make a game.
Pretty much: Platinum Games + Nintendo EAD.

Tetris. We all love tetris!!! right??? lol
I think creating the perfect game would be a bit more complicated than mashing up a bunch of other games.
We'd never have this sort of discussion about making the perfect pie:
"Apple pie is delicious, so we'll start off with Braeburn and Golden Delicious apples. Then we'll add bananas and whipped cream. Of course, we'll have to add some mutton because I love Shepherd's pie..."
Just because it hasn't been done yet doesn't mean it wouldn't make the perfect game. A versatile and powerful set of modding tools including where people can download said creations.
Also, the ability to tweak every gameplay aspect of the game right down to toggle/hold to crouch.

Fine if the game cannot be perfect then at least contribute what you think would be important for a game to be considered your best ever.
Spoilers for FFIII/VI and Skies of Arcadia
Airship- Either FF Series or Skies of Arcadia I think airships work in so many games that not having one in my action adventure platformer rpg hybrid would be a mistake. I like the FF series' airships but something felt so right about the ship battles in Skies of Arcadia.
Branching Storyline - Final Fantasy III/VI The split quests were some of my most memorable and it made you feel more attached to all the characters because they were all important. Needed them to open passages fight bosses and work together to complete a dungeon or the story I loved it and wish more Final Fantasys would have followed suit.
