Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So what will Nintendo have for 2H 2010?

I agree with a lot of the rest of this, though. Reginliev i'd put up as more of a possibility beause it seems like one of those games that was just meant to be localized, though one could gather that impression from Disaster, too...

imo, the one thing that really puts Reginliev ahead of the other NOA "missed opportunities" (Disaster, Trace Memory R, Fatal Frame IV, Wand of Magic, etc) is Motion Plus support.  I honestly think that really elevates it's chances, given the death of home grown M+ content.

Otherwise, yeah, I think it'd (sadly) have zero chance. :/

well demotruk if the games aren't ready then they can't release them so what would you prefer unready games or good games that are ready to be out?

Better planning. Delays are a fact of life in the games industry, good planning takes these things into account and should manage a steady stream of releases even without them all arriving on schedule. I'm sure they also thought they'd have better third party support in late 08 and 09, they probably also thought Wii Music and Animal Crossing wouldn't flop, but they didn't have much prepared for the possiblility that they did.

From Iwata's interviews, it seems Wii Sports Resort was originally planned to be a Q4 2008 game, but got delayed.  Miyamoto also mentioned that Galaxy 2 could've launched fall 2009, but was delayed for strategic reasons (giving NSMBW a wide birth).  Smash Brawl was supposed to be Q4 2007, but adding the netcode delayed it.  I'm sure there's other examples, I think someone said (Tezuka?) that Galaxy 1 was originally planned to be a launch game?  Same for Prime 3?

I'd say it's pretty clear 2H 2008/1H 2009 were flubbed (the critically panned Wii Music and warmed over Animal Crossing port weren't ever going to hold the fort), but I'd say Nintendo's more than recovered from that now (2H 2009 was exceptionally strong for casuals, 1H 2010 is exceptionally strong for cores).

I think we are going to see a heck of a lot of motion plus games in 2H or 2010. Nintendo knows that Natal and Arc are going after their motion control market, and Nintendo isn't about to let it go. Zelda Wii is a definite. Maybe other titles using MP like Starfox or Waverace.

Star Fox wouldn't really benefit much from M+, it'd rely mainly on IR like S&P2. Wave Race could be great, but WSR sort of makes me think a dedicated Wii Wave Race (or Pilotwings) won't happen. :(

I hope Retro's game is an RTS, and not a pikmin/LKS style RTS. Wii is the first console with an interface good enough to have a chance at disrupting PC RTS's, and Retro was hired to make games for a Western audience. Still, a good wRPG or even a first person shooter wouldn't bother me either.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

I think Zelda Wii and Wii Relax are going to be the big releases for the second half. Other than that, I'm genuinely not sure. Nintendo could announce games from nowhere at E3 and have them released within a couple of months. I'm hoping Xenoblade makes it out in the West before year end, and something like Pikmin 3 and perhaps a Starfox/F Zero/Wave Race.

Also, whatever happened to Cosmic Walker?

For Wii in America:

The Legend of Zelda
FlingSmash
Wii Relax
Xenoblade
Something else unannounced

I seriously doubt Reginleiv and PokePark Wii are coming to America, and if we do get The Last Story it won't be until early next year in NA

Went mia, not even on Nintendo financial report list (which still has stuff like Kirby Wii).  Honestly, I think it probably got canceled.

PokePark?  That's practically guaranteed imo.  We haven't NOT gotten a Poke-spinoff since the Game Boy days.

DS2, Zelda Wii, Wii Relax, Retro's game, Monado, Reginliev, and maybe something big we're completely unaware of. That's a little optimistic, but most of these seem like they *should* be coming for the holidays.

If it turns out this way, it makes Nintendo's strategy and planning for 2009/2010 look terrible, because things ended up so weak in 09 and so strong in 10.

I was under the impression that they changed its name to Xenoblade for good. Or is it just for the japanese market?
