Which country will win the FIFA 2010 World Cup?

Argentina 339 7.61%

Brazil 1,010 22.67%

England 490 11.00%

Germany 678 15.22%

Spain 841 18.88%

Other 1,097 24.62%

Total:4,455

I voted Other thinking that maybe Italy (or who knows, even France after the 2002 disaster and the final in 2006) would win it, but I would like to see something else, like why not England (they did win the Rugby WC once so they can win stuff) or finally Holland.

Well jdging by the opinion of english people, england will of ocurse win,as they have done evry single year of the competetion/

"They will know heghan belongs to the helghast"

"England expects that everyman will do his duty"

"we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender"

im really confident we CAN do it this year, Wayne Rooney is on immense form, with him in our team, we can beat any nation, come on England!

Wow, Africa not getting much thought here.

I'm putting my money on Ivory Coast.

Did you watch the Afrcia Cup?

Then you would know that there is no chance in hell the'll make it to the quarter finals.

Worst soccer I've ever seen. Dunno what happened, though, because back in 2002 Senegal used to play really good and beautiful soccer...

I already had an european cup in my country.

It was in 2004. Unforgetable!

Chile, we will beat Spain and Brazil and if we beat those the rest will be easy.

If Rooney is enough to get hopes up for the England fans then Van Persie, Robben, Sneijder and Van the Man should be enough for me to root for Holland...

But it isn't...

this poll fails.... you put england and argentina but not Italy... wtf? they are the defending champions and if you go by wins it goes
5 brazil
4 italy
3 germany
you just fail with this poll

(i'm french)

and england has always been england, what are you talking about in your op???

Here's an idea: Shutup.

Being the defending champion means very little in a competition where no team has won twice in a row in nearly 50 years. So unless your polls are better, don't complain. Oh wait, you don't make polls.

You fail.

So you think that England (Who won the World Cup in 1966) and Spain (Who actually never even reached the finals) have a better chance at winning this years World Cup than Italy (Who were in the finals 6 times and won 4 of those AND is the defending champion)? Seriously, you tell Hephaestos to shut up, but come on...Italy should've been up there.

I can imagine that you chose Spain, though, since they won the European Championship in 2008. So, the main complain i have with this list is England. Without a doubt Italy should've been up there instead of England. Hell, even France deserves a spot on that list more than England does. France reached the finals 2 times in the last 3 World Cups and they even won in 1998.

Of course, nobody knows who will win the World Cup this year, but 4 countries should ALWAYS be on lists like this: Brazil, Italy, Argentina and Germany. You got 3 of them right, but you missed a VERY important one...

You fail on so many counts its unbelievable.

Just because Italy won it 4 years ago means nothing. They have a completly different line up as all their players were old then. They have performed very badly in the last 4 years as well. Who cares if they have won it 3 times previous to that? How many of their players from the triumph in the 80s will be playing in the next few months?

To say Spain haven't won the world cup is irrelevent. They have the best first 11 in the world have just because they didn't win in the past is a stupid argument. They havn't had the best squad like this in the past.

France have been playing poorly as well. If you remember correctly you would be aware that they were VERY lucky to qualify. Beating Ireland by the use of a hand. Along with a very poor/disasterous qualifying round that almost resulted in the sacking of their manager.

England on the other hand in the last year were the most impressive team in qualifying for the Euro 2011 and have scored goals for fun in a relatvily (compared to France and Italy) young squad showing that they will only improve.

I'd say England or maybe Germany, but i'd like Holland or France to win :)

Ghana needs to be consider with the likes of Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Kwadwo Asamoah and few of the U-20 achievers, they are the team on the african continent who can give the others a run for their money. With a less potent second string team in the recent African Cup of Nations, they were able to reach the finals.
