So I'm curious. Lots of both negative and positive impressions around from importers. We're still about a week and a half away, so what do you think your opinion of the game will be at release? Explain why, as well, if you don't mind taking the time.

I think it will be great. A lot of the impressions I've heard sound great, and there hasn't been a Final Fantasy game yet that didn't get a fair share of hate.

It's true, though. Just look at the main three Final Fantasy games on the Playstation:

FF7: Cloud is emo, it's overrated, plotline is bad, Cait Sith sucks, etc.

FF8: Squall is emo, junction system is too complicated, summons are different, you can't buy weapons, etc.

FF9: Too cartoony, too childish, return to fantasy, etc.

In fact, I'd say Final Fantasy 9 got the least complaints of those three because it was the least popular. And that doesn't mean that there were less people to complain, just less people praising it (and thus, less of a need for the enlightened people to remind us how bad they actually are). This is an endless cycle for every popular game from a popular series. And again, from I've heard, Final Fantasy 13 sounds excellent. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's ANOTHER game I have to add to my queue. I still haven't bought Uncharted 2, Mass Effect 2, or the over 9,000 other great games this generation.

I'm pretty optimistic. The biggest knock against it seems to be that it's extremely linear, but so was FFX and it was amazing. The battle and leveling systems sound fun (anything that resembles the Sphere Grid gets three thumbs up from me), and FFXIII easily has the most graphics of any JRPG to date... probably almost as many as Heavy Rain! So I expect I will like it very much.

That said, it's not FF6 so it won't be my favorite.

I didn't vote, because I don't think I will fall into any of those categories.

I've played some of FF7, but that's my only real FF experience, and I never was big on RPGs. So when I play it (I have no idea when that will be, but it certainly won't be in march), my only expectation will be to be entertained really. And I have no idea if that's going to be the case.

Final Fantasy XIII is an amazing game, but I don't think its my favorite. I don't really have a "favorite" Final Fantasy game. I enjoy them all just as much as the other, feels like a fresh experience each new one I play.

It won't have the impact that FFX(my first FF game) had on me but it will be one of the better JRPGs to be released in a while. The battle system looks very cool and the story will mostly likely be heartfelt even though none of the antagonists are as memorable as villians in previous games.

I'm worried the story won't be very good...something I really love about just about all FF games.

Don't care much about personalities or character designs. It's a Japanese game, and they have their own style, something numerous people can't seem to appreciate.

I EXPECT my opinion will be...that it'll be pretty and have a lot of fancy effects and story content, just like past FF games and they have been emphasizing. But at the same time, it won't do really anything original for RPGs or interest me, even compared to past Final Fantasy games such as FFVI, VIII and X.

I suspect my views will be that sadly, it'll be the one Final Fantasy game people can truly say was just full of FMVs and made specifically to be a graphical showcase without much gameplay substance. But hey, I could be wrong. We'll see once its out.

Well my favorite FF's are (in this order) -- FF6, FF10, FF4, FF7, FF9, FF8 & then FF12

AS FF13's narrative borrows heavily from FF6 & its style in gameplay & map design is like FFX this may be one of my favorite FF games ever!

Out of the complaints the only one that may bother me is that its VERY difficult!!!!! I haaaate difficult games with passion!
