I'll wait til the game is out to judge.
I think it's funny, but I follow it sometimes as well (only when they change stuff, because why would I complain about more of the same if the same is awesome?).
I'm skeptical of Other M right now, but I know better than to judge a game before I try it myself - particularly a Nintendo game.
dont change my zelda
evolve my zelda
Omg metroid is fps!
omg metroid is NOT fps.
....let it be.in the end the games get duper high scores and people love it(mostly).
that sadly is always true with all games! =[
- Wasteland - The Mission.
I am experiencing this at the moment with Zelda:Wind Waker and Super Mario Sunshine. Everyone was complaining about the cel shading look and the "story" they were trying to give a Mario game. To me, as I have been playing Nintendo since the Game Boy/NES, it was a welcome change. This gen, everyone is complaining about Mario having no story and Zelda being just another update of the best game of all time.

A perfect example of this cycle.
Part 1
Wind Waker is announced.
People hate it right off the bat because it's not OoT 2.
People play it and it's generally a hit or a miss, some fans say it's the series finest and others hate it for existing and use the game's difficulty and cel shading as fodder to justify the hate.
Part 2
Twilight Princess is announced.
OoT praise it for being the "mature" Zelda they wanted since OoT.
Several later denounce the title for being 'OoT 1.5' and use the bloomy, grim look as fodder to justify the hate. Several later praise WW for being refreshing and hail TP as garbage.
Pixel Art can be fun.
Why is it that positive excitement is okay to the extent of overhyping, but it's not ok to suggest that a game may turn out bad or is taking a series in the wrong direction?
Also, please point out actual instances of hypocrisy rather than implying it by lumping people together.
A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
