I don't see where it happened.

A perfect example of this cycle.

Part 1

Wind Waker is announced.

People hate it right off the bat because it's not OoT 2.

People play it and it's generally a hit or a miss, some fans say it's the series finest and others hate it for existing and use the game's difficulty and cel shading as fodder to justify the hate.

Part 2

Twilight Princess is announced.

OoT praise it for being the "mature" Zelda they wanted since OoT.

Several later denounce the title for being 'OoT 1.5' and use the bloomy, grim look as fodder to justify the hate.  Several later praise WW for being refreshing and hail TP as garbage.
