Reviewers just hate the change.

If this drops below Lost Odyssey then lol. From everything I have seen so far Lost Odyssey is the better game.

I'll wait till I've actually got my hands on XIII first.

I have the collectors edition pre-ordered and no matter the review's I'm still going to pick it up.

if it was on ps3 t would have gotten the same score

Negatives:
Too many long extended CGI cut scenes and not enough gameplay.
No towns - developers too lazy, lack of open world, too linear for an RPG, long boring repetitive grind.

Positives:
Final Fantasy game. Last final fantasy main series game ever.
Cutting edge graphics as expected from FF games.
Main game will take up to 30 hours. 64 side missions and the game will take up to 80 hours to get 100% completion.

Main game is over 40 hours easily.

This is not the last main series FF game.

There are alot of cutscenes but that didn't stop MGS4 from being one of the best games ever.

You don't HAVE to have towns in an RPG. and te battle system is actually quite fun and is NOT a grind. So comes up with some better excuses.

This proves that JRPGs will not get a free pass this gen, no matter how big the name is. Demon's Souls will remain the highest acclaimed one.

Quite annoying that WRPGs are getting the free pass as well. Other than Mass Effect 1, and well 2 isn't a WRPG.

Do tell how Mass Effect 2 isn't a WRPG. I'd argue that it's more WRPG than any other game in history.

It is a pure TPS with WRPG talking mechanics.

EDIT: With an awesome story too btw.

It has every element required of an RPG game. It has skill-based progression, player choice, weapons/armor upgrading, and character improvement. On top of that, it has a pretty unique way of forming a party and using it to its fullest capacity.

Don't let the fact that BioWare streamlined (but never removed) some of those elements in favor of going with a true "role-playing experience" fool you. The game is as RPG as they come.

If it recieve the same meta score as FFXII I won't buy it until it's in the bargain bin

Some of the best games this gen have had a score in the 80-90 range.

...FFXII had a metascore of 92. There's like three Final Fantasy games that outscored it.

Well 10 Final Fantasy games should be ahead of it as it was the 2nd worst Mainline FF game (behind 11), but still a 9/10 game!

you know it to be true khuutra!!!!!

The metacritic should go up

all those import reviews there will be replaced with the western version reviews....ofcourse there's no guarantee the reviews for the western version are higher, but many times that is what happens.

Next week we should start getting the big reviews in, it should settle between 88 - 91

90s is optimistic, but I agree that it will go up. I'd guess ~88 or so.

I can agree with all of your points. But to me I see it as a TPS. I'm not saying that is a bad thing. I actually enjoy it more than what M.E.1 was.

Being a TPS really has little to do with it being an RPG or not. Besides, the TPS elements are pretty heavily computer-aided. It's not like the game plays like Gears of War.
