Yeah, well we didn't have the special type of screwdriver to open it up. He planned on just scrapping it anyway. Seemed stupid to pay £150 to get it repaired when you could spend £200 (at the time) and get a 120gb Ps3 slim from Sainsbury's.

Lol - I can guarantee I'm not using it wrong. My PS2 still works (and I've only had one) and I've got TVs and CD players that are twenty years old and still work.

The damn thing is well ventilated, dust free and is treated very sweetly.

I've decided that when I'm at work the kids somehow wreck it - I honestly can't think of any other reason other than the fact that, just like someone's got to win the lottery with 14 million to 1 odds, with thirty million PS3's sold someone's got to be very unlucky with them.

Anyway, all my content is backed up and I have Continuous Play in UK which means no matter how long I have it Sony will replace it without charge so I guess it could be worse.

Keep it in a VERY open space.....I use to have mine in a little cubby that I thought had good airflow cause it was very wide had air that could go through the back and sides, but i would always feel the back and it would be hot. Now i moved it and it runs pretty cool.

Okay so here's a thought. by the fact that you said phone instead of call I'm pretty sure you're not American. most likely British. I know that when I travel to Europe I have to take a power converter for my electronics. is it possible that where you live the power supply is calibrated differently and might be having an effect on the actual circuts for the ps3. honestly just a thought.

If you're going to use your PS3 as a grill, you can't ALSO use it as a console. It does everything, but not at the same time.

He buys PAL consoles that work on local power sources. Even so, the PS3 has an internal converter that works fine.

Did you get new PS3s as a replacement or just the old one repaired? Repairing electronics is almost always a patching up job and the real problem will occur again.

I have yet to see or even hear about YLOD or other problems, expect here.
