If you're a football fan then Pro Evo is a must-buy. After playing Pro Evo on the Wii you won't want to go anywhere near any other football game on any other console ever again. It's that good.

If you haven't got a gamecube before Metroid Prime Trilogy is a must-buy....

also recommend Galaxy for sure, Zelda TP, Brawl.... you should also look at the Virtual Console.

get mario galaxy, twilight princess, smash bros brawl and NSMB or paper mario, in that order. Best games on the wii. No matter what anyone here who wants to promote mediocre third party games says. ( not counting okami, because it's awesome)

The 5 games I would recommend to any Wii onwer would be:
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Super Mario Galaxy
New Super Mario Bros Wii
Super Smash Bros Brawl
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

After those, its pretty much up to your tastes and a lot of games are on the border. Little Kings Story is good, but also not for everyone. Same with Zack and Wiki. Tatsunoko vs Capcom is also good, but mostly fun for those who like the 'Vs Capcom' series. I also suggest things like the Metal Slug collection, Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection and all the LEGO games.
