The point wasn't (really) about Virtua Fighter or Everybody's golf ... The point was Tetsuo Shima was being a raving fanboy who was unwilling to look at the facts from a rational perspective, so I choose two games from his platform of choice which have performed far worse than Mario Galaxy (in comparison to previous iterations).
Mario Galaxy will remain in the top 50 chart for months in Japan and may end up passing Super Mario Sunshine in lifetime sales if people buy it when they become interested in other Wii games. We haven't seen much of this with the Wii (yet) but the DS, Gameboy Advance and Gamecube always had games (like Mario) which ended up appearing in the top 10 months after release because a popular game was released for these platforms; the release of Wii Fit, Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart could (in theory) end up boosting sales of Mario Galaxy by quite a large margin.
