It's endless. The publisher does nothing, gets no results, blames the audience (which is the one thing you should never ever ever do if you're not a blazing idiot), declares that they tried everything, throws their hands up in frustration and give up

Its a wonder any of these companies are still in business.

This coming from someone who apprentely doesn't have either hd consoles. How many companies are saying this about wii? You don't really hear them bad-mouthing the HD consoles. You would expect a game like Deadly Creatures to find success on a console with a huge user base.

Who will spend money on a game you only will have 5 hours on?

The general public aka mainstream gamers. I consider myself a somewhat hardcore gamer and I didn't know that.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

Would you really? What exactly about Deadly Creatures was appealing?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

No ...Deadly Creatures was filled with bugs, and we're not talking about the characters. Really poor quality programming in the game made it pretty damn near unplayable.

If you think about it, Nintendo having the highest selling console is working against them. Because their user base is so big, publishers assume that whatever they release will find an audience and be a top seller, once it flops they run to hills.

Again though, the HD user base has been pretty much figured out. FPS are pretty much catered to that system, if a publisher wants to sell a game on the HD twins they know they can put some FPS elements in and it will market very well. They still can not figure out what the Wii audience wants. Do you think Bioshock or Mass Effect would sell as well on the Wii as it did on the HDs?? Those were high quality games, but put them on the Wii and what would they have been? I don't think Mass Effect or Bioshock would have been as prolific for the Wii, simply because the publisher would have had to been a little more cautious while approaching the type of game it would have turned out to be. With the HD's, they know what works, start with shooter and build around it with the story and other elements.

Well, games that don't sell very well on the Wii are just not that good. Hopefully they can figure that out later on. But I do think it's a good idea to release them on multiplatforms... Even PC! Steam is doing great! :)

I wish the could drop the phrase (core market) and call them people who wants to buy a game thats worth their goddamn times and is fun.

I think all developers need to ask themselves this, "Would this game be fun, is it worth buying it?"

Exactly, the problem is, core and casual gaming was created by the industry. Who would create such a thing??? The core gamers! The reviewers! The ones that grew up on simple fun games back in the day. Casual gaming was simply created by the ignorance of hardcore gamers who lashed out against shovelware. But when shovelware turns into dollars for companies, shovelware turns into the new games, which alas, has turned into the "casual" gaming trend seen today, ahem, for the most part that is.

Deadly Creatures was average at best and pushed out with zero fanfare. It'd have bombed on the HD twins too, as have plenty of "core" THQ games (Conan, Stuntman, Baja, Destroy All Humans, MX vs ATV, 50 Cent, etc).

de Blob 2 going multi is good thing imo, it was a solid success and deserves a wider release. Wii's also getting THQ's new cash cow (UFC 2010) so it's not all bad. Still, I'm surprised they blanket killed all their "core" Wii titles (Saints Row, RedFaction Beast, God Game, Stuntman Demolition), they really haven't given this sort of market even a chance on Wii yet. Usual 3rd party hubris...

im a wii owner and didn't want the damn game, because it looked retarded, why are these devs expecting us to buy every single wii core game that is released? even the railshooters wtf?

Because the only people who'd ever own a Wii are apparently senior citizens, toddlers and retards casual gamers. And no Wii owner can think for themselves, so they should buy every game made for the Wii by default, since they just love the half-assed bullshit developers bother to throw their way - advertising, genre, content, quality, availability and personal tastes/preferences be damned.

This is just tragicomical, and I really can't see why it's been going for so long.
