@ darkknightkryta
yes, mostly correct.
But as it is now, they are still mere video files and, in my opinion, should not be compared to actual realtime footage.

I believe most of you should thank the talents of the developer more than the actual hardware. Uncharted has it fair share of low poly objects and textures. The thing is that the developers spent a lot of time putting those low poly low texture objects at places where you would not be looking or pay attention to.
Case in point. If you can find the video where the truck is coming down the ally and you are running away from it. Since it's a fast action scene, your mind will be focus on your character and the truck. Pause that video and look at the ground. The ground is very low poly and textured like a PS2 game but you would not notice this unless you actually paused the action. There are many cases to this technique in Uncharted 2 and it really shows, how way the developers understand their game but also their audience.
Easily yes. If you are not sure, get the Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2 demos from PSN.
That's right, just one "d"
In b4 "it's addict"

Why not? It's "real time" when it was recorded. It ran fine when they recorded it. It would run the way the videos showed it. The only thing is that they cut out the 10 second load time to load up the cutscene. I mean I enjoy the good stuff of real time cutscenes like new outifts and such, but the graphics in the FMV is no different than how it would run if it was in real time with a 10 second load screen before and after the cutscene. Unless of course the cutscene doesn't run up to speed and the cutscene is spead up to 30fps, then you can't compare. So until we find out that Sony speeds up the videos to full frames and the cutscene isn't running at a real time spead of 30fps, I say we use these FMVs. On another note; most of Sony's games have very little to no loading while the game runs.

Then I must point out that the demo lacks important shader techniques like subsurface scattering which would make theskin more realistic. At the moment its very plasticky. So in saying that as the demo doesn't represent 5 years of shader development it already looks worse than many current and soon to be released games. |
Okay Squiliam, if that makes you sleep at night, whatever you say...
I say yes.
And off topic but I just remembered I need to finish Heavenly Sword.
Yes, Heavy rain has models as detailed as that, and at times even more so..
Uncharted 2 is a different art style, and doesn't aim for a completely real look, but it does look better than that, and more detailed than that.
This is a tech demo from 2005, they had BETTER be on par/surpass it. I beleive they have, and it shows clearly in Uncharted 2, beautiful game.

Definitely. I'd say Heavy Rain surpasses this demo just a bit.
