Forums - Nintendo Discussion - LoZ:Twilight Princess is like a good wine

Yeah this game deserves better ratings. It did get game of the year which is a good thing. Its not a rip off of OoT the story is different and the world is so much bigger.

The more I play it the more "meh" it becomes.

Item usage outside of the dungeons they are found in is atrochious, Overworld is empty, and there is too little action and too little stuff to find in the overworld (And I'm not talking about bugs or shit like that, I'm talking about stuff that you can find that is actually useful like the Ice Arrow or Nayuru's love)
Also, the game is way too easy, I never died once while completing it (except for when I jumped off cliffs to see if it actually could kill me)

Ocarina of Time has aged far better and is superior in every regard except graphics.

I partly agree with this post.

TP becomes more "meh" with each playthrough. Couldn't be bothered to finish my 11th playthrough.

Where I disagree is that OoT has aged better. OoT is actually much worse. Not only does it also have lame rewards for sidequests (100 skulltullas anyone?), but items you thought could be useful sometime in the game are absolutely not needed at all (Ice Arrows and Nayru's Love, Deku Nuts are worthless too).

The biggest flaw of TP is that it tries to mimic OoT too much, including all its flaws.

I think RolStoppable just committed sacrilege.

It just gets better and better with each playthrough.  I'm half way through it on my third run and I've never enjoyed it so much.  Even though I know what's going to happen and how to solve the puzzles, it all seems so fresh.  I really am appreciating all the details, the scale of the world, the art design.  This game is a masterpiece like no other.  Gameplay, the music, the characters, the epic moments, the story.  It's all there, the total package.

I remember being somewhat underwhelmed when this game came out, but now, on my third time playing, I realize what an amazing game this is, and just how full of life hyrule is.  Only a zelda game could be cappable of something as amazing as this.  Does anybody feel the same way?  Or has this ever happened to anybody else?

you mean how it's exactly like ocarina but 7 years later?

funniest post i've seen this week :D

Yeah, it is the second best zelda ever!!

You mean that it turns to vinegar? Just kidding.

I agree that it is better the second time around (great level designs) , but the game does still seem like an OoT knockoff.

Twilight Princess is a crap Zelda game: the dungeons are the best I've ever seen, but the story is the worst either. Play The Wind Waker and enjoy more.

I agree with everyone, especially those contradicing each other.

I actually agree it did get better 2nd and 3rd time, I think I was rushing through a little too much the first time to appreciate anything other than the most awesome bits (firing arrows with the pointer, upside down magnet puzzles) But I also agree it has it's flaws just like OoT does.

I don't agree about OoT aging well, I think it aged well until Windwaker came out.... now Majora's Mask has aged well (as has Super Mario 64)

Windwaker is still top of the pile for me though, and helped by it's style it has, and will age a lot better than OoT did or TP will.

While I am here:
Windwaker >> Majora's Mask >>>> Twilight Princess >>> Ocarina of Time

Wind Waker is a half formed abortion. Stupidly easy (literally "win button" combat), horribly paced, lacking dungeons (both in number and quality), flat featureless overworld, janky means of transport, shitty collectibles (figures? srsly?), it starts with an awful stealth dungeon and ends with the worst (mandatory) fetch quest in Zelda history. Literally ALL it has going for it is it's looks. It's pretty easily the worst game in the series imo.
