PC Gaming is too expensive.  The hardware requirments are ridiculous

$400 is enough to get a PC with better graphics than PS360. PC gaming is really cheap nowadays, especially with the amount of money you save from PC games.

I don't believe that's true. Can you link me this 400 dollar PC that has graphics on par with a 199 dollar Xbox 360?

Also, keep in mind, that even if it is technically as powerful as the Xbox 360, the games made for it are not optimized for the hardware, and thus, performance will be worse, at equal spec levels. I think you are far underestimating the dollar amount it costs to build a HD gaming worthy rig. I estimate about 900 bucks for something you wouldn't be embarassed to link on the internet, and something that wouldn't have obtained complete obsolescence last year, and something that wouldn't play a game that came out tomorrow at over 20 fps.

To top it all off, you would have to build it wouldn't you? How many console owners could do that, dya think? You think my 11 year old brother should go out and try to put together a 400 dollar gaming rig, so he could save 10 bucks per game, with little or no increase in graphics or MODERN library over a console?

Also, I can buy games used. I can buy console games for far cheaper than they usually are on steam if I buy them off ebay, or rent them. Can't do that one PC.

Also note that most people would probably want a store bought operating system, if they built a PC....

Not as cheap as advertised, imho.

It's not as expensive as some people try to make out either, but it certainly isn't for everyone. Consoles are. That's their selling point. Nell, from the movie Nell could have an Xbox 360 up and running in 10 minutes.

Everyone needs a basic PC. Everyone, even if they don't won't play games on it. Now the cost to make a PC go from "use to surf and use office" to "watch movies and handle games" is far far less than $400 dollars, and definitely within the range of a $199 Xbox. In fact, it is far more powerful than. To demonstrate, I got a pre-built PC solely to watch movies on and as an upgrade to the gf's PC, definitely couldn't handle even Warcraft 3. It cost $400. After having it come over and the gf realizing it she didn't use it as much and didn't feel like transfering from the old one it passed onto me. I spent a total of $120 bucks and now it plays games on resolutions HDTVs can't even handle, with anti-aliasing beyond what any fanboy can even imagine to lie about, and it all runs at 60 fps, something no games can claim on a console. So no, for me I paid $120 and I got something infinitely better.

I just wish that the PC was backwards compatable. Since Windows 7 I havn't been able to play Half Life 2 without getting sound loop crashes, and havn't even been able to start MoHAA, it just crashes.

Something with Windows 7 most likely. However, to say that PC isn't backwards compatilbe is a little odd to me. I can load up a game that I used to play on our first DOS computer back around the mid ninties on the same PC that I can play Mass Effect 2 or Crysis on.

I'd say it's dying--check out the sales of Modern Warfare 2 PC vs the PS3 and 360 versions.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Not at all. PC gaming can provide things that consoles can not, and with Starcraft2 and Diablo3 coming in the future ( to name a few) PC gaming will be doing just as good as it ever has, if not better

the only reason I came back to consoles is nintendo... (can't live without zelda)

got a 360 cause of cheap price and exclusive content, that is it. I play much more PC than anything.

I hope the alan wake type of PC fiasco doesn't happend too often... now that I have 3D, i'm really not inclined to play PC games elsewhere.

not that I want MW2 to be successful on PC (I hope MW2 PC failed completely), but where can we find the figures of the PC version? Unless Activision releases some figures, anyone that says the PC version was outsold by the PS360's is trolling.

Thank god it isn't. The game is a pile of shit in every aspect I can think of. Wouldn't want any more games like it to be coming out.

With the consoles, they either have BC or they don't. This PC keeps giving me hassle. Took me a while to get DOS games running properly, and yet it still crashes often enough for me to have to save every 2 mins. Unreal Tournament runs crazy fast then crazy slow, I had to turn off a core but there are still problems.

@ Vlad,

yeah running games as the administrator, in safe mode and in compatability mode have been among the things I have tried. along with memory tweaks
