Revolution?! REVOLUTION?!!!!!

GAHHHHHH!!!!

Call it as you want : revolution , paradigm shift etc... this don't change its long term objective.

PS : Avish, the bookstore analogy is from Malstrom, isn't it ?

Yup, the one where the hardcore gamer rushes into the store and starts burning the "non-books"

Looking at what Super Mario Sunshine did on the GC in Japan, 0.87 million, I'm not sure why anyone expected Galaxy to be a mega seller.
Super Mario 64 only did 1.92 million and maybe Galaxy's final figure will fall somewhere between the two.
USA seems to be the biggest selling area by far for home console Mario games.

I always felt the need to hug those Japanese for their greater taste in games, but I feel more like slapping them at this point and hugging the Americans for having such a deversity in game taste, for all consoles. I'm sad too right now, but I guess looking at the US charts as soon as they're out gives me a much happier feeling. So, the sooner they're here, the better!

Im thinking of hugging the Europeans, only because I don't know their taste in games.

Japan has gone entirely casual and America is obsessed with FPS, sports and racing. I hate both countries for their taste in gaming to be honest.

Really? Us Europeans? We only buy Fifa, PES and any other EA game. We're the worst.

Actually, I think the US is the best market of them all.

Merely because we're vastly more accepting of each console vs. Japan and Europe.

Look at it this way:

In the NES days, Japan sold well, as did the US, while we still enjoyed the Atari and PC.

In the SNES days, Japan totally murdered the Genesis, Europe embraced it, and we bought both very, very well.

In the N64 days, Japan abandoned the N64, bought more Saturns, and sold uber-units of the PS1. Europe was the same way. Whereas in the US, we gave the N64 a great chance, it sold well, and so did the PS1. The Saturn didn't do too well.

In the GC days, Japan didn't notice the Xbox, or the GC, and kept selling PS2s. Europe adopted the Xbox a bit, continued the Ninty hate, and kept the PS2. The US loved them all, and sold tons of GCs and Xboxes, and a great bit of PS2s.

So I fail to see why the US is so bad. Good systems do well here. Despite absolute abysmal numbers in Japan and Europe for the last 10 years, the US kept Nintendo consoles afloat. Had the US gone the way of Japan and Europe, there would not be a Wii.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Yes there would have been since Nintendo made a profit in those gens off of handhelds, and as Nintendo has said the day they leave consoles is the day they leave gaming. GCN was nothing more than a test bed for DS and Wii

The faults of the Blue Ocean strategy. It's one or the other.

Ratchet isn't doing any better, which tells me that whatever the strategy the result is the same. By the way, this isn't a cheap shot at Ratchet in any way. Actually, Ratchet is the only PS3 boxed game I really envy right now.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

Original post updated with Hardware numbers and some extra software titles.

Streams cross once again with PS3 beating Wii.

Japan am confused.

DW6 did surprisingly well on 360. I would've thought the only 360 owners over there would've been hardcore gamers that have to own every system, but it seems as if quite a few people bought one instead of a ps3.

Mind boggling, imo.

That can still be the truth and they are buying the 360 version so they have another game to play on their 360 because they haven't played it in a while.

Or some of the 360 owners could be American transplants or just people with more American type tastes, thefore they only own the 360.

Koei should be happy. Gundam Musou, Bladestorm and Dynasty Warriors use the same engine and actually I'm shocked Japanese keep buying same game over and over again.

How many FPS use the same base engine as well?  Is Bladestorm like the Dynasty Warriors Engine?  I thought it was more like Kessen.  If it's more DW based i'm more likely to get it myself.

How many games of the same genre are actually almost exactly the same?

Look at the 3-D Zeldas for example, or really any number of games of the same type made by the same company.  It's just what they do.  Same engine changing things slightly for a different style.

How much will the PS3 and DW5 drop? That's the question.
