Here's the deal. Everytime an exlcusive game gets a good review from an Official magazine there's ALWAYS some dude who steps in and says "I'll wait for a less biased review" or something along those lines.

My gripe is, what's the inclination to assume that all review from that Mag is biased? Is it so hard to believe that maybe, just maybe they really did like the game? Why are people so quick to scream foul play?

When the game gets a crap score, the nay sayers are often nowhere to be seen, instead dancing on the game's grave.

Whilst I think it's never a good idea to hold reviews, metacritic and the likes as the word of truth, I do however believee there's no harm in giving credit where it's due. if Mag X thinks game X is good and it just happens to be an exclusive for the console that the Mag is an official representation of, I see no reason for people to disregard it as being biased.

It happens all too much on this site and it sickens me, you get some people who go into reviews of official games that got a 9/10 from an official mag and say "well this mag always gives exlusives higher marks, they gave this game 9/10 so it means everyone else will give it 8 and lower. (point of reference, the thread talking about the 9/10 review for GOW3 by OPM).

My point is, these attempts at downplaying is unnecessary and it happens WAY to much here and it really needs to stop, would it kill you to be supportive? If it would, stfu and gtfo!

I agree about those as well because:

1: In my eyes 7/10 is a not bad score, not sex on a stick but not a bad score.

2: I've said this a dozen times more than I should but I feel if you REALLY want a game then you shouldn't let reviews put you off, maybe change your opinon from day 1 to rental or bargin bin not completely put you off. It pissed me off how many people who were "hyped" for the game suddenly dropped it because it got mediocre reviews. (e.g WKC)

3: 9/10 is not the end of the world, Edge and the likes aren't God, they have their reasons for doing what they do so accept all reviews with a pinch of salt but dont-

I: Pick and choose reviews to help massage your fanboyism.
II: Go overboard and assume there's a secret plot to get you to buy a crap game.

My opinion is, there's way too much emphasis on reviews and sales these days, I'm starting to forget if the so-called "gamers" are stock-holders in disguise.

Enjoy your games regardless of what some reviewer thinks, their words aren't gospel.

I feel with the exception of a handful, the majority will disagree but I think I'm on solid ground with my view point.

I agree but it works both ways. Too many people claim a magazine or website is biased because they give X exclusive a "low" score. Its getting ridiculous.

I agree 1337, IMO, only time a person should hype or downplay a score is if they are hyped for the game itself not because of who is reviewing and what console it's on.

Personally I think their reviews are often better, they are more likely to be within the target audience.

You know what I do? I ignore people who complain about that. A good review is a good review, I've seen all of the official mags give out stink reviews to games that are exclusive, too.
