I'm probably one of the only students who attends UMD that doesn't go to parties or the like. I've never drank alcohol before or smoked ANYTHING. I've never smoked cigarettes before because the entire concept behind them is disgusting. I've never smoked marijuana before mostly because I don't want to risk the law doing anything to me if I got caught or anything. That's something I wouldn't want to have on my record or anything.

Alcohol is a different story. My reasons are mostly half law-based and half family-based. My grandfather was an alcoholic and treated my father horribly, and consequently, my father drinks more than I believe your average person drinks. I don't want to be like my grandfather or father and rely on alcohol to get me through the day. Also, it's illegal.

So, VGChartz, why do you or don't you drink/smoke/etc?

I have never smoked anything in my entire life.
I drink alcohol because I like it.

I eat food to nourish myself.
I drink water beacause if I dont I will die.
I eat chocolate beacuse its yummy.

I drink because it gives me an excuse to act like an idiot and have a good time. When I act like an idiot and enjoy myself while sober, people think it's weird. For whatever reason, being drunk is the ultimate excuse to let loose and have fun.

Don't drink, don't' smoke, don't' do drugs. My reasons are pretty simple. Life is too short to cut off valuable years smoking or doing drugs. Might as well start counting down less years haha. Not to mention, expensive habit to say the least. Couldn't afford that and video games as a hobby. Rather be immersed in a fantasy world than a puff of smoke.

As for drinking, this is purely a choice of mine and my reasons aren't going to be what many would consider logical. Well the first part has to do with drinking in my family outside of my mother and father have been well not so great. Had lots of issues and done crazy shit because of it. Second reason, is my main concern in life is not being a douchebag. And when I see people going out and getting drunk at parties and clubs, there is nothing more close in mind to being a douchebag than doing that. No thank you.

Now I don't mind doing a few taste tests or something every now and then, but it wouldn't be beer (why waste it on something that taste so nasty) and it wouldn't be too much. I can understand why a lot of people like to drink and go off and do stuff like that and that is their choice just as much as it is my choice not to so I won't tell anyone they can't do it... I just ask that they don't brag like it is something special, that they don't drive, and that they don't encourage drinking for the sake of getting drunk. Other than that it's a freedom I respect.

I did them all because they felt good.

I quit doing them all because they felt TOO GOOD.

I don't smoke (anything) because it's expensive and I have 0 interest in it.

I only drink once in a great while, usually when some friends come home from college and there's absolutely nothing else to do *shrugs*

I smoke because I'm addicted.. that's the only reason.. I should be quitting soon.

Alcohol is fun every once in a while..

I drink alchohol cause I like it.. I smoke cause I need it.. High stressing job so it gives me à 10 minute smoke break to relax a bit.. But usually I don't even smoke on a smoke break.. I still have the Same 19pack Marlboro in my jacket for THE last Three months...

I drink alchohol because I enjoy it, both moderately and in large amounts. Plus a great bottle of wine or a beer at a pub with friends is always great.

I don't smoke or do illegal drugs because it doesn't appeal to me.

but really, some of my friends do, and honestly, I think the reason they do it's because it's forbidden, they always say:
smoke/ alchohol = bad so they get anoyed and do it because it's forbidden.
If someone says:
"lettuce is worse" everyone would eat lettuce
