Yep that was him. I hated all the characters from the rebel side of the story (Dawn Brigade), thanks god for Ike and his group. FE:RD is my second favourite game on the Wii, so another game from the franchise is more than welcome. Tho I wouldn't mind continuing the story, another fresh start with new characters isn't my thing.

That game was so awesome. I played through it like only once. But it was such an awesome game. I would take Paper Mario 2 over any FE game any day.

I can't decide, but for the sake of fairness, I'll vote for a SPM sequel, as it appears to be losing...

However:

 A true successor to Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Stars > Paper Mario and Fire Emblem...

Play the game on hard mode and you'll see how overpowered he really is. Thunder mages have a good chance to OHKO him and a group of enemies can very well take him down within a single turn.

In fairness I can't think of another Beorc who is better than him, saving his speed - except maybe Ike, I guess?

There are several Beorc who are better than him. His speed is low, his resistance is terrible and his skill can also become a problem. Jill might have lower attack and defense, but she's a better wyvern lord all things considered. Ike is obviously the best Beorc once he got the Ragnell and the skill Aithir. Gatrie is also a pretty good character, resistance becomes much more important on hard mode.

Haar is the character who suffers the most from hard mode. He goes from being nearly unbeatable to someone you have to take good care of. Any mage can take of about 1/2 to 2/3 of his HP with one hit due to his atrocious resistance (and it's more likely that he does get hit). Also, since enemies have higher speed on hard, Haar often times only gets to attack once.

Eh, I've maxed out all of Haar's stats before, his resistance isn't so bad.

And I don't know if Maniac Mode (because that's what it is, let's be honest here) is really a fair comparison to make. Well, I suppose it is, but when I say that Haar is pretty much the best beorc barring Ike, I'm talking about Normal, a.k.a. Japanese Hard Mode.

Paper Mario (original)

Best game IS has ever done. Tsujiyoko did better work on those two games than anything she's done on Fire Emblem, the graphical style was very polished, the writing was genuinely funny but not boring or pretentious like most RPGs, and the amount of Nintendo references was incredible.

A 3DS Paper Mario sequel like PM64 and TTYD would be beyond fantastic. Those games are among my favourite RPG's ever.

The DS has Mario & Luigi, which I don't personally like but is closer to SMRPG than Paper Mario is.

I know, I played it, and while those games are good, they don't hold a candle to the Paper Mario RPG's. I'd really like a new one.

i really really miss the old Paper Mario :(

i remember this thread from way back. made me sad then, still does today :(

just a rumor of an old school Paper Mario game being developed would totally make my day, just the hope of returning to that formula and ditching this "super paper" stuff... :/
