Your kidding right haha.  Almost all third person action games nowadays stem from one product... Resident Evil 4.  Hell the whole cinematic action genre comes from it.  Resident Evil 4 was one of the most influential game going into the 7th generation.  Hell one of the ones I'm always pointing out that had influence of RE4 is that of Gears of War haha.  Cliffy B actually even stated that in a few interviews because it is pretty obvious he was a fan of the game like many others. 

People don't seem to give RE4 enough credit for how much affect it has had on the state of development in the 7th generation.  It is just astounding how many products have been influenced by it going into this current gen. 

 

I can see the connection to Gears, and thus indirectly to Uncharted because it lends from Gears. (btw, was Resi 4 really the first big third person action game?)

 But I dont understand the cinematic argument. Werent there tons of big cinematic action games before Resi 4?

Well I'm not sure if Resi 4 was the first big third person action game, nor do I know if it was the first big cinematic action game.  What I do know, is it made enough of an impression for many game developers after it to look at the model and think it was a good idea.  Enough so to really expand upon the genre further than even Shinji Mikami had even thought. 

I mean it is always hard to find which does something the first or does something the best the first time around, but I always kinda like to go back to Halo with these kinda things.  Halo wasn't an exceptionally new product when it came out, there were plenty of first person shooters, ones with lots more depth and of course in a sci-fi world.  But Halo felt unique.  It had things in it and a certain atmosphere that ya just didn't get out of many other games before it.  Gamers saw it and developers saw it and it became one of the most influential games for the next decade.  I mean there are obviously people who didn't like Halo or didn't see it as something special, but a lot of is did (of course that's the great thing about gaming is that we can all have differeint likes and dislikes and still respect each other).  I kinda see the same thing for RE4. 

Guess that's the best way I can put it.

looks like they took an easy root and just took the #1 game from each year and just put them in an order instead of thinking that maybe some years could have more than one game that would be better than another year. I like a lot of the games on the list so I won't complain.

Yea those are definitely some.  Which is why I'm surprised Metal Gear Solid 3 didn't make this list.  I was quite surprised about that one as well, which a few others have mentioned.

They must be if this list is to go by because in their original scoring both the games I listed above have better scores than their top 10 games of the decade as listed here.

 One person reviewed those games while this list is a collection of all the editors opinions. Pretty simple.

Why is that "lmao"? Fallout 3 got the most GOTY awards in 2008 (I think).

Would u have said "lmao" if Oblivion was on the list?

I just think that F3 does not merit "classic" status in the slightest.

Again, I adored Oblivion but still wouldn't put it in the top 10 of the decade.

I've heard the claim of Resi 4 being this big influence-maker before, and maybe it is true (for third person it is, without a doubt, but i mean cinematically). But if u were to stop for a sec and think, could there be other games almost as important that released in the years before it? Games that influenced the cinematic action style presentation that's so big today.

Like encodedNybble said MGS 1&2, u'd agree with that? Other titles?

It's because they only allowed one game from each year for their overall top-ten. And they had Resi 4 at No 2 behind Shadow of colossis in their list for 2005.

Their top movie lists made we wanna throw-up. Dark Knight won it all, and even worse, Casino Royale came third.

Any self-respecting film critic would have given it to LOTR (who came 2nd though lol).
