For those of you with HDTV's and HD cable, do you like to watch shows that aren't in widescreen stretched or with the black bars running up and down the sides?

Black bars.

Stretched looks awful.

Doesnt some TVs allow u to watch it semi-stretched? Meaning there's still black bars on the sides, but it's sort of a compromize.

4:3 fully stretched to 16:9 looks terrible though.

Missing the tops of peoples' heads is a small price to pay for not seeing an obnoxious TV station ident.

Black bars. You'll eventually tune them out but the horribly stretched picture will always be annoying.

black bars... I don't like fat people.. I even watch Oprah in 4:3... >_>

I like black bars too, I was just wondering what other people though because some networks (TBS, Fox, ect) will take shows like Family Guy, Seinfeld, or whatever other show that's 4:3 and then stretch them but then sometimes Fox will show other 4:3 shows (King of the Hill) with black bars.

I also heard some people don't like black bars because they think it ruins their TV.

I just like my shows not being stretched.

I've always preferred full-screen to letterboxing. Proportion means little to me.

I can't stand stretched pictures. Mostly I'll watch TV in a semi-dark room anyway, and with everything around being black, I don't even see the bars.
But damn, I want 16:9 Gintama :/
