ok but for reals....
@chenguo4...
really???...not evolve???...FF series is the one series known to evolve EVERY release or implement something NEW to the jrpg genre...so i guess ff1 ff7 and ff13 all have same gameplay...and hasn't evolved...
there was a HUGE evolution from ff6 to ff7 couple minors in between up to X and then another HUGE evolution in XII...
if it's about not evolving and what not...persona4 should get the trophy for that imo....but persona3 and persona4 was awesome...still pretty much the same game...just some MINOR changes...no big changes like FF series |
Just because the game went from 2D to 3D from FFVI to FFVII does not equal "HUGE evolution," although, I do agree that every FF has been very different, the largest change being from X to XII. The only big changes in gameplay between FFVI and FFVII were the inclusion of mini-games to make the story more interactive. Still, Final Fantasy is the most inventive of all the jrpgs, and to claim that it is stuck in the past is like saying FPS shooters need to not involve shooting and first-person point of view... too cliche and overused :O

materia???...first ever supposed in-game cgi??...they tried new stuff...the combat mechanism itself doesn't make the whole game...or else jrpg might as well be a text game....ummm...and come on...MATERIA....i thought materia was awesome....and how about the all famous ruby and emerald weapons....
btw...going from 2d to 3d is a big evolution to me and alot of people...went from playing ff6 to 7...i was like WHOA...THIS IS AWESOME...so yeah...i guess that's just your preference...and to square enix...i should say square soft at that point...it was a big evolution as a company challenging themselves from 2d to 3d...
ffx i think was pretty big change as well...sphere grid...you didn't level up in status points in anyway whatsoever...u had to open up nodes to get ur max mp/hp up....learn new skills...etc....which indirectly opened up the idea of the license board for ffxii...
