Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Should The Legend of Zelda's 'Link' ever speak any words?

Look if you have great writing, a good voice ACTOR (a professional actor) and a great director...I don't see the problem? Do you really thing in the year 2020 link would still not say a word? If he doesn't start talking now, then you can not have a deep great story. You need communication to have a great story.

Why do Nintendo fans ask so many questions?

I was gonna make a thread about this the other day. All the Nintendo threads on the front page are usually questions, and pretty weird ones at that. It reeks of insecurity... seeking approval where none exists and so on..

We have nouthing else to post about also why do other people just post news

I was gone for a month. I guess the moral among Nintendo fans took a nosedive during January.

I think it was always like that. I've been doing some research on viral marketing, and basically it only works when the "collective" takes the bait, and Nintendo fans always take the bait.. they react and run with it, they get insecure.

I'm trying to figure out why that is. Perhaps it's just the kind of gamer Nintendo attracts. Questions on top of questions is usually a reaction to some criticism they heard, that's the best can't fail example of something going viral I've seen in a while.

In the 10th piece of dialog what's he actually saying, I just can't work it out?

Link shouldn't talk, but everyone else aside from him should. However, the only way to do this would be to offer no option to change your name from anything other than Link, and I don't expect Aonuma or Miyamoto to ever go through with that solely because its a step away from Link being connected to the player. Its still possible they may someday, or perhaps even in Zelda Wii, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Still, if they want to give the best realistic experience in Zelda one day, they have no choice but to do this at some point. Voices aid realistic experiences. Not that I expect them to, however. They'll never do it even if they realize it would help, because it strays too far from what they think Zelda should be.

and this too

Wasn't there a thread exactly like this already... that was a few pages long... I seem to remember that.

Either way... i'd say no.

The silent protagonist is still a valid storytelling form and rarely used lately.

In addition, any personalities ascribed to link by this voice will no doubt be in contrast to the majority of people who have ascribed their own specific model of a hero on to Link.
