I also think a lot of people this summer said the Xbox 360 will only reach 13-14 mill. Now anyone should agree that it will get more that 14 mill, and will have a good change of getting arround 16 mill sold to customers at the end of the year.

My estimated was like this:
In april my prediction looked like this: Wii 16.8m, PS3 9.2m and 360 16.3m.
In Juni my prediction looked like this: Wii 17m, PS3 7.5m and 360 15.25m.

Now my prediction would be like this: Wii 18m, PS3 8m and 360 15.8m

Guys, seriously, if you have specific information about any console being overtracked or undertracked, please come forward with it and enlighten us. Otherwise, stop making yourselves look foolish.

 I have to agree, these claims about over/undertracking are really tiresome.  If you don't have at least  some evidence beyond "it seems to have increased too much" then just wait and see what happens.  Its not like the quarterly shipped numbers aren't going to highlight these problems so we will find out eventually.  If your favorite/nemesis console being under/overtracked for a few weeks really bothers you that much perhaps you should seek help.

 PS - Predictions are fine, just make sure you call it a prediction!  And don't tout it as fact at every turn.

I don't see you Sony fanboys hollering from the roof tops when the PS3 is overtracked. The PS3 has often been overtracked and ioi has had to make adjusments. VGChartz numbers, particulary in North America, always seem to over shoot actual PS3 sales. The same fanboys questioning VGChartz numbers in regards to the 360 are the same ones touting the VGChartz numbers that show the PS3 out sold the Wii in Japan last week. You can't have it both ways and be taken seriously. I take the numbers that they are instead of tossing them aside when they don't reflect the sales I would like. You PS3 fanboys should try to do the same. Rant over

The universe and its laws are governed by fanboys' thoughts and doubts. If a fanboy thinks something happened, it happened. If a fanboy doubts something happened, it didn't happen. By definition.

As part of a new VGchartz policy I think everyone should have their predictions tattooed to their forehead. This way no one can ever change their mind, regardless of new information coming in.

And if that prediction is wrong, you have to have your name legally changed to "n00b"

I believe most fanboy data is extrapolated by multiplying the results of the nearest 'neighborhood game store'*.

Yes ,the PS3 has been overtracked .In NA alone .Two months .An overtracking of some 30K units .And ioi changed that ,thanks to NPD data .

But the 360 is overtracked in Europe and as there isnt official data we cant make adjustements .If MS gave some data it would be helpful ,but they stay mum .Why ?Because they know very well that outside UK their sales are just terrible .So the only time they have opened the mouth it has been around Uk and France .

When MS France said they were at 430K vghchartz had the machine at 530K .No adjustements have been made until now to solve this .

Charttrack said (prior to Halo 3 launch and PS3 price drop and 40Gb model ) that the PS3 and 360 sales were even in the UK for the year .Taking in count that the PS3 had half its sales in the first weeks of launch and that the 360 had nearly 3 months more to sell .But if we add the sales of both machines in vgchartz the 360 sales for the year add more than the PS3 ones even if we only count until the Gamecharts declarations (I added it up myself just to see ) .So ,contradicting Game Charts .And now with the PS3 much cheaper and with better games the situation wont have changed to accomodate to this vgchartz perception but to the contrary .

Germany sales ,when provided ,have always put the PS3 topping the 360 there .Despite this ,vgchartz shows the PS3 narrowly beating the 360 and many weeks the 360 being in top .

Spain .The 360 has sold typically some 1K units weekly in my country .Since August vgchartz started to track double and now it tracks 4K weekly .Sure the launch week of Blue Dragon and Bioshock and the one of Halo 3 sales were boosted .But they havent stabilized in 4K times as much as before .MS Spain hasnt opened their mouth about a 4X increase of sales or anything .MS Spain reported when the machine did hit 100K and 150K but they haven even announced having hit 200K yet .I can tell you 360 sales havent multiplied by four since say march ,most stores I know just have the same dusty units in exposition and the same second hand units there waiting for a buyer .

Reggie Fils Aimee words about the 360 being "dead " in continental Europe echoes what you see in the stores .Sure the machine has a bunch of faithfuls that bought it the first year or even jumped in later ,enough to make the machine appear in the Top 10 of sofware here and then ,but it is something as the 360 in Japan ,absolutely minoritary .

In August SOny France president said they were outselling the 360 in continental Europe about 3 to one .Sure if you add the UK data the score would be more even but still marks the PS3 beating soundly the 360 .For some of those weeks the site marks the 360 beating the PS3 though .

Past events .Ioi has had to change the numbers of the PS3 in France and Spain .In those countries it should also lower the 360 numbers so increasing the differences .For what I see the samples he works with follow their past patch ....PS3 has sold in France 100K in four weeks but the site only marks 40K and in Spain it will happen the same .I am under the impression the samples used simply arent that representative .Its always the same ,undertracking it for weeks and weeks and then give it an adjusting boost to match a bit with official data from GFk or Sony .

MS take on this .They are so ashamed of their european numbers that they dont have stated an update of the PAL numbers in a loong time .Last time was when they were at 1.7 million end of november last year .They are in a good position in Uk and not so bad in France (paltry weekly sales but nearing half a million LTF so not very bad )so those are the only numbers ever mentioned .

MS numbers .MS said having shipped 11.6 million 360 some month and something before .I dont believe it has sold out of those shipped consoles and then another 1.5 million consoles since then.There has and has been a lOT of stock at stores all this time .I also doubt it has sold all october at higher numbers that the week Halo 3 launched .

Last year ,NPD issued and statement about having overtracked the 360 sales by 400K for the year .Dont know if they have done it agains or not but the shipped number in october makes nearly impossible to be at 13.1 now .

Having all that(and other things ) in count I can stick to the "Sony lies " and "Howard Stringer got in front of his shareholders and lied to their faces " "fanboys in forums know better " and specially "MS doesnt presume of its PAL numbers anymore because of modesty " or simply assume the 360 is overtracked in Europe at last as the reality suggests .

So again the "facts" are simply you're interpretation of things. Not really conclusive unless you have already determined in your mind that they're true.
