Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Good debut weeks for No more heroes 2 and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom?

I think because of the lack of advertisement for NMH2, it's not going to do too well.

TvsC opened well in NA but no where's else. It's well suited to Wii audiences as it's easy to pick up and play but hard to master. The unknown Tatsunoko brand won't help though, but at least they are interesting characters. Hell, the Capcom brand is probably unknown to most Wii owners.

Regardless, I think this game could coast on legs for a long time at the $30 range.

NHM2 I'm troubled with. A sequel should be more front loaded but I'd expect 1.5 to 2x the original's openning numbers. Didn't do nearly that well. It's not my type of game to be honest, my son played the first one but was put off by the empty overworld. Many like him will be hard to win back unless they hear about how much better it is from friends who own the game. It also has more competition than the first one. When NMH's launched Wii was pretty bare of any action titles (aside from PS2 ports). Now there's plenty on the shelves.

I'm sure it'll sell enough to make Grasshopper happy (won't take much) but we'll have to see how it's legs hold out.

Out of curiosity, what action games are you thinking about?

Currently Madworld, FF:CC:CB, TvsC, (upcoming killing legs) Red Steel 2, MH3

Thanks for the reply!

Nearly half a million copies is not a minor cult hit. That's around 100K sales.

It did almost half that in budget sales though, and a good amount bundled with Red Steel in America even.

Anyway, my point is that NHM2 as a game is a lot more accessible than the original, and more marketable too imo.  It really should be doing better than the original, not just matching it... and frankly, I'd put the blame on Ubi's shoulders.  They sent it to die.

As far as I am aware, the bundled version of those two games were counted separately.

And WarioWare made those things incidental to just having wacky fun, while NMH makes these more central.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

NMH2 isn't having spectacular numbers after 2 weeks. They are only at 60,000. I really hope that this game has legs and healthy European sales, or there isn't much that can help this game sell as well as NMH.

I'd say no chance of legs.   It dropped from 41k to 14k in one week.   In comparison NMH went from 36k to 26k to 21k etc.

Went the original came out the Wii had no action games (sans PS2 ports).  NMH2 is competing with FF:CC:CB, TvsC, and even Madworld at $20.

TVC was advertised heavily to me whenever I visited dictionary.com

I found that, amusing...

It's on track to match or exceed the DC/PS2 MvC games in America.  I never would've though that possible to be honest, really good sales.
