How much would you pay per year for VGC Standard Access, maximum?

$30 8 8.00%

$50 7 7.00%

$70 0 0%

$100 5 5.00%

Nothing. 71 71.00%

I don't have to pay, I'm staff! 9 9.00%

Total:100

To give ioi an idea.

In case you don't know, Standard in VGC 3.0 will basically give you some extra analysis options, and more extensive weekly charts. The price isn't set in stone, and staff get free access.

EDIT: Well, apparently this model of payment isn't happening. But let's say hypothetically, if it were to happen.

I would have to suck it up and actually join the news team instead of just talking about it.

Oh shit, we'll have to pay soon?

You don't have to do anything. There will still be free membership which has pretty much everything available now, except the weekly top 200 becomes a top 50, and numbers are no longer visible on graphs (this may change).

In fact, all of the details may change. All we know is that there's free membership, then standard membership for $100 per year or less, then premium membership, for analysts and companies, which is several hundred dollars per year and has many advanced options.

"This is a dynamic site made up of dynamic data, with constantly changing markets, many of which are hard to track directly. There will be adjustments from time to time - the only way to avoid this is to turn VGChartz into a full-on worldwide tracking service. This would likely cost a few million dollars a year to fund (and even then would not be easy) so either you need to be prepared to start paying extremely large subscriptions to see any data you want to see (which isn't how we're doing things, in fact the standard membership model I discussed previously isn't going to be happening so all data access will remain totally free) or just take our data for what it is and understand that while it will not be 100% perfect, it is normally in the right ballpark."

This whole post from ioi is what I would label "gangsta"

$0.00

I dont see why the average user would pay for these numbers?

If VGchartz is going to implement a paid model. They need to not remove any of the current features from the site. The paid subscription should only provide extra functionality. Such as more detailed analytical tools, Maybe some more indepth reports from the staff the staff here. Maybe even a removal of ads from the site for those on the subscription.

My main point here is that taking functionality away from the average user isn't really creating a value added service. A paid subscription simply needs to be far better whilst not annoying the rest of us.

Personally I've got not problem with a paid service if it was like I described. Plenty of sites have them and manage both the free and paid users effectively.

Nothing. Im here for the community not really the numbers
