How can you think if you don't know enough words?

How do you know what I think until you hear what I say.

*Yawn* I knew this for a while via Surfer Girl. She said it's coming, but she made no mention of what development stage it's in as far as now. Looks like she was right. But you guys are deluding yourselves if you think it's coming in 2008. At the very earliest 2009 will be the year when it's released.

There's more info on her blog (KEEP IN MIND THERE ARE SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Don't go here if you don't want stuff revealed for you.

@hunter

If you want it to be a crappy game then maybe I'll agree with you. But knowing SOny, they'll make a FULL sequel putting work in it instead of working on it for 9-10 months when a proper PS3 game takes up 1.5-2 years+ to make.

Insomniac is typically good at releasing 1 game a year. Unless there will be another R&C in 2008 it will be resistance 2.

True, but I think they'll work on it lomger...

And besides, they released games in 1 year for what systems...PS1, PS2? Those were easy to develop for, PS3 is harder.

 1. Rofl, everybody knows that it was coming.

2. Yes they work longer on it that is why they have two teams.

If we see the engine advance as much as we did with Ratchet & Clank (far more SPE usage combined with texture streaming) Resistance 2 should technically become mind blowing from the technical perspective!

Seems like this may well become the case!

"The amount of action we're able to put on the screen at 60 frames per second really dwarfs what we were able to do a year ago at 30 frames per second," said Hastings. "What's most exciting is the way things are headed right now I think we'll see just as big a leap from our second generation engine to our third as we did from the first to second."

Looking ahead, he was equally as optimistic: "We're already seeing a big leap in what people are able to do with the PS3 now compared to a year ago, and we're going to see just as big a leap between now and the end of 2008," said the Insomniac Games Chief Creative Officer. "I think we're going to continue seeing major leaps each year in what people are able to do with the machine for at least three or four more years."

And how are future games going to look better? It seems it's all down to the use of the much talked about PlayStation 3 SPUs, which until now haven't been fully used by developers.

"The tech and gameplay teams have moved tons of things over to the SPUs that used to run on the PPU," said Hastings on the improvements made to Insomniac's game engine. "Collision and physics are entirely running on SPUs now, which allows us to put much more on the screen at once than we were able to with Resistance. Moving more and more code to the SPUs is an ongoing process and I think we'll continue to see major benefits from this for several more years."

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

MikeB, can you do a single post without publically masturbating over Cell Processor porn? ;)
