Forums - Gaming - Has a games rating ever kept you from buying it?

Did a store clerk ever not let you buy a game?

Did your parents not buy it for you because of the rating?

Did you yourself ever avoid a Mature game when you were under the age?

(And for the old people, when you were young did any of this ever happen to you?)

For me a games rating has never prevented me from owning it. Several times I bought a mature game when I was only 15 or 16 and the clerks never cared. My parents never seemed to look at the ratings either, I don't think they understood anything on the games box art anyway?

Edit:

This is what I'm talking about

The contrary actually.

When I was 13 or so, I wanted to buy every mature games.

Not once. I have never, ever had to deal with ratings.

Iv been asked ID but never flat out refused, Iv also bought M rated games for my kid bro (he's 17)

I've never had problems with the rating system. I've bought every game I've ever wanted.

When I was young my parents did not let ratings stop me from getting games, so to speak, but they still did their best to monitor the content that I experienced to be sure that I had a handle on it. I don't think I was ever denied a game because of rating, which summarizes it about as well as possible.

My mom wouldn't get me RE3 when I was 10.

I don't think I've ever thought about the rating while buying games.

"And yet, I've realized that maybe living a "decent" life means you won't ever have a "good" life."

Depends, for example im a huge fan of SH if it gets low rate i will still buy it cuz im a fan of the older games as SH 1 , 2, 3 and 4 but if a game got a huge ad and hype but it will be the first time i play it and gets rate low i wont buy it

My dad used to give me a hard time though. I think it was the winter of 1999 when Shadowman and Resident Evil 2 came out on the N64, and of course I wanted both.

"You want what? 'Devils in Hell' and 'Devils in My House'? Begone with this evil shit and we will never speak of it again!"

My father had - has - a very esoteric sense of humor.
