I was Shocked

So the Ps3 gets it's 3rd 9+ Game after Resistance & Motorstorm

WHY do the UNHYPED Titles (Warhawk, Folklore) turn out to be FAR BETTER than the "Hyped ones" (Lair, HS)

 Anyway, THIs is a must buy now

I really like the demo, maybe more than the HS demo. I will definitely pick this up this holiday season. Anyone who has not tried the demo should DEFINITELY check it out, because it is very rewarding (possibly the longest demo on the PSN), and the game is pretty unique. The combat system is one of the most different I have ever played, and reminds me of some of the good elements of Chaos Legion.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

It was a nice read and seems like a winner though kind of odd in the symmary they mentioned "Unfortunately, though the game is very enjoyable to play, the menu load time, framerate, and level repetition issues can detract from the gameplay experience." seem like these could be big issues especially the level repetition for other reviews. This is what it currently has on gamer rankings.

Eurogamer 7/27/2007 5 out of 10 50.0%
Computer & Video Games UK 7/29/2007 8 out of 10 80.0%
PSM3 Magazine UK 11/1/2007 69 out of 100 69.0%
Play UK 11/1/2007 66 out of 100 66.0%

There is a demo so I suggest giving that a try and decide for yourself. Hopefully we get more reviews in to get a better overral picture at least for those that care about reviews. Nice find.

I'm not that shocked. It's gotten some mixed earlier reviews. Some loved it some hated it.

Lost Kingdoms was an fun game and this game looks to be nearly exactly like it without having to worry about running out of cards.

Not sure if i'll be able to get past the "Dungeon crawling" aspect of it though, i dislike dungeon crawling games. I perfer more widespread, you travel here, you travel there games when it's 3D.

Heavenly Sword is truly great no matter what reviewers say.

This would be the fifth 90+ game on the PS3 after Resistence ,Motorstorm ,Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Oblivion .

I didnt think IGn would hand Folklore a 9 to be frank .

As for why hyped games are receiving lower scores than unhyped ones I have the feeling that some reviewers are asking games as HS and Lair to be light years beyond current games.HS is a beat-them-up ,best beat-them-up of the generation thus far ,but for some reviewers the game not breaking all the moulds and being revolutionary better than other games of the same genre was reason enough to handle the game a 8 .Funny is when some of those sites gave Pirates of the Caribean similar scores ....

That is why is great there is a demo since it seems it will be getting mixed reviews you can for the most part decide for yourself based on that. If anything is something different available for PS3 owners to check out. The more games available the better.

@dimodes

ok I kinda get what your saying bout the hyped games.....

I can see Uncharted being in the same situation. Little hype, high scores for reviews.

I'll take the case!!!

@Harvey

I think Uncharted has a considerable amount of hype...

HAZE I think will be like FOlklore, little less hype, huge on delivery

It's currently at 73 on Metacritic.

My impression is that it's a generally ok game with some very interesting bits, but some serious flaws as well. Also the guy on the cover looks kinda like me a while back. =P
