The J man believes that shooters(both fps and tps) age faster than any type of game. The J man cant even play any of the last gen shooters. The J man also used to play F.E.A.R to death with its great graphics but after a year couldnt even begin to look at it.

So which type of game do you think ages the fastest?

Excellent question J Man. I'd have to say that it varies from generation to generation. For example, I find 2nd gen adventure games to be unplayable while I find 3rd gen JRPGs, 4th gen FPS's and 5th gen platformers to be very dated. I don't find any particular genre from the 6th gen to be dated except perhaps the early sandbox games like GTAIII.

First Person Shooters age the absolute fastest. With RPGs staying timeless classics as they age the slowest. I still enjoy playing games like final fantasy 4, Chrono Trigger, and wait. Didn't both those games get remade for the 7th generation?

First Person Shooters need to have a sequel or new IP released every few months, where RPGs seem to get remade on a regular basis. Coincidence?

Also, if ya find me a FPS that was remade. I'll definately feel humbled.

definetley not Shooters or RPG's both have replayability for me, probably sports games, once a newer game comes out the old ones go out of use, e.g i play FIFA 09 alot but i havent played FIFA 03 for about 5 years

I will just say that any game that has great graphics but bad gameplay will age badly. Many shooter are guilty of this

Types of games do not inherently age. Certain graphical styles (notably "photorealism") age, and pop-culture references age, but those are really the only two things that do in gaming.
